New toy arrived, got it when it was pre order and $50 off making it something like £130 or so, but it is the wifi one so I can now cook something from the office.
SWMBO doesnt yet know I got it and hates me buying more kitchen toys to play with, this despite the fact that she agrees that she enjoys the fact I cook and to a reasonable standard... first task is to cook a rib eye for tea tonight!!
Whats the difference to the wifi one vs the non wifi one? Other than not being in stock in 240VSWMBO doesnt yet know I got it and hates me buying more kitchen toys to play with, this despite the fact that she agrees that she enjoys the fact I cook and to a reasonable standard... first task is to cook a rib eye for tea tonight!!
Is there a UK stockist for these yet?
I suspect it will be out of stock now till the new year, not sure on actual uk stockists.

I follow chefsteps and they have just released Joule, which seems to be a very similar device, but comes with a chefsteps supported app.
https://www.chefsteps.com/joule
They will be 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other, the app to me is not the end game with recipes as I will be using recipe books, so as long as the device does what I want and the app lets me control this, then I'm happy. Anova has an lcd screen the other does not, plus I don't need to use smart phone to control anova whereas the other looks like I will have to.https://www.chefsteps.com/joule
If I had the room I would go mellow or the latest new fangled gadget.

I don't... Yet, so I go stick blender size.

Ive just realised that an actual sous vide "tank" probably isn't necessary yet, plus the wife says "it will ruin the lines of the new kitchen".
So....this stick size would be a perfect starter to bring juicy sous vide into my life!
I cant seem to find one in stock in the UK, where did you order yours from?
used it a few times on steak so far.
Sirloin - good but not amazing
Rump - better than frying/grilling but not amazing
Ribeye - this is the steak to buy from now on, 10 times better using sous vide.
Only use it a couple of times due to being away so much in Dec/Jan, I will try it out on something like beef cheek soon, but a trip to Auz to work is stopping progress, but I will be taking it there with me.

Mine came from the US direct. Got the bluetooth version but I don't use the app really, just turn it on and set the temp manually. I think wifi is a gimmick too, do you really need to turn it on while not in the house?
I assume the US version wasnt 60hz specific then? Plug change etc...ah...ive just seen the photo above with a UK 3pin plug.
I was holding out for Joule...and then this arrived from the wife this week!
Tested it for the first time tonight with a couple of chicken breasts, then finished in a pan.
Incredibly juicy!
Fortunately I bought alot of meat from the local butchers at the weekend, so I can see a 24hour leg of lamb on the cards this weekend.

Wow, as much as I'd love one like that, I just haven't got the space. Got a vac pack to go with it?Tested it for the first time tonight with a couple of chicken breasts, then finished in a pan.

It's not as big as I first thought, fortunately we have a brand new kitchen and loads of storage, so it's going to live in the cupboard. I've got a feeling it will be out everyday though. Don't want to ruin the clean lines of the work top 😉

So what's everyone's verdict?
They have an offer at the moment with the WiFi version at £89 - is it worth it?
Anybody but the stand and reusable silicone bag as well?
We use ours all of the time, at least once a week. Mainly for larger pieces of meat on a long cook. I've worked out some things are not improved by Sous Vide where others are greatly improved and made more simple. Our Christmas ham is now sous vided and it beats the traditional method hands down. They have an offer at the moment with the WiFi version at £89 - is it worth it?

Nice to see this old thread pop up again.
I've used my 'wand' for about 6 months now for ribeyes, chicken breasts and thick pork chops which work really well.
Does anyone know of any UK sous vide cookbooks or websites with UK/European recipes as apart from sousvidetools website, which I find a pain to use, I have only found a shedload of American cookbooks mostly covering stuff that I would never want to cook?

@Du1point8
Thanks for posting those links, but having spent an hour reading through the Look Inside for each of them, both are American and Asian centric.
The Keller book does have some French inspired recipes but is very 'cheffy' with lots of ingredients that are bizarre and unobtainable in the UK.
I'm really after British/European recipes & ingredients that are obtainable in the UK.
But again, thanks anyway.
