Just "pre-ordered" one
Looks like a great piece of kit but there is already something very similar on the market but can’t recall the name.
This one ?Looks like a great piece of kit but there is already something very similar on the market but can’t recall the name.

For some reason it was the wood pellets that have always put me off ordering one of these. Then again at half the price.....
I do agree that the wood pellets dont seem "authentic" enough, but then thats what makes it so quick to heat up and "easy".From reading the Roccbox website the wood burner can only take twigs and kindling anyway, so still not exactly proper wood/logs.
I think the Roccbox looks better built, and more versitile, but at double the cost it should be.

I bought one earlier this year. I have been thinking about a proper wood fired pizza oven for a couple of years but struggled to justify the price (£1k + for what I wanted).Cant decide which I prefer?
I really wanted one that used logs as I always have loads at home.
But decided the Uuni was cheap enough that I would give it a go.
It actually works a lot better than I expected, the wood pellets are very effective and it has a very simple gravity hopper arrangement so easy to make sure it always has wood in it. Mine is the second gen which addressed a lot of the problems of the first gen apparently, so although I like the look of the new one, it is getting up towards the cost of a proper real wood fired oven on ebay and these small ones seem to take a bit of refining to get right.
Given you aren't a million miles away you're welcome to pop round sometime and I will get it out of the garage and fire it up so you can see it working.

Having our garden sorted so was looking at the Uuni until I came across this:

Anyone had any experience of something like this? I like the idea that it's a 3 in 1 but don't know if that just means it's too much of a compromise.

I recently bought one of these..
http://www.kettlepizza.com/?gclid=CP_wna3xzssCFVG6...
Actually the pimped version sold here..
http://www.kettlepizza.com/Serious-Eats-KettlePizz...
It's bloody expensive for what it is, but it is very good quality and makes amazing pizzas.
It's a bit of a knack to get the temperature up as high as is required though, and it's not cheap to run.
The reviews mainly use about 6kg of charcoal, plus oak in order to get the temperature soaring for a start.
It's easy to burn a whole bag of coal and quite a bit of wood if you are making a few pizzas.

I've had the Uuni 2S for months now and it has been one of the best purchases I have ever made. It does take a little getting used to, but after one or two attempts it's easy. I was considering holding out for Roccbox and I'm glad I didn't - I would still be waiting now!
You're right - it is cheaper - but I don't see a lot of trade offs. It's sleek and sturdy and definitely portable. I also just think it's a bit cooler than the Roccbox. I love the Uuni style and branding. And the food that comes from it never ceases to amaze me, or my friends for that matter.
Honestly couldn't recommend this oven enough. I love it!
