The beauty of living in London, is that we have the freedom of choice in things like this. If you don't want it like this, then ask for it cooked medium. I gather Scottish McDonalds don't tend to ask... smile
We have plenty of good burger places, the really good ones even remember to cook the burger before they serve it laugh

If it helps to resolve the query, I was fine after the burger above. They were selling them to a queue 4 deep so I'm sure it's a tried and tested cooking / prep / hygiene combo.

I must stress - it was handsome. The black pudding was of exceptional quality too.

I have another again in a heartbeat.
Emperor's new clothes. That was an overpriced and undercooked meal.

You're right. I bet they buy all their meat from the same place as McDonalds...

Well, I've had a few of these start up food outlets as clients, and all they're selling is a dream.

If you can't tell the difference between high quality and low-grade meat among your "clients", I'm glad you're not representing me.
Either that or, by way of get-out, all your "clients" were shysters...

Why are the only options McD's or the gourmet raw beef sandwich? laugh

What a thoroughly odd series of posts. Perhaps you should talk to someone. Or go out a bit more. You know...

Indeed. Very bizarre.
Nobody bats an eyelid at steak hache (delicious), but someone having a burger that looks a little like it is:
  • forced upon punters
  • revolting
  • a 'fad'
  • a vile health hazard
Live and let live, for goodness sake. laugh

I ate a burger that was cooked just like that from Meat Market. it was the juciest burger I ever had. I would definately get it done like that again and I've always wanted to try out BleeckerBurger as it gets such high praise as one of (if not THE best) burgers in london.

Don't really count it as dirty takeaway, but while we're talking bleecker... had one, and then had to order another as they're so good.

Given my profession, they generally were, yes.

Selling hugely overpriced burgers in expensive locations is an excellent way of turning a grand into twenty cash. Thus it attracts scallys.

Don't be fooled by the £6 an hour beards serving you, or the posh "eco friendly" paper it's wrapped in. This is big business. Google "Harris & Hoole".

Slightly off topic from the thread - I'll start another if there's enough interest. I've recently been fascinated by the economics of the street food scene. Take one gazebo, a couple of trestle tables and three £8 / hour beardy weirdies, and in the right location I reckon you can take £2k over a 3 hour lunchtime. I can pretty much work out the ingredient costs, and the equipment costs, but I've got no idea how much these people charge for a pitch. Given that some of the stalls have pretty much no queue over a lunch period, and others have a constant queue of 30 or 40 people, the pitch costs can't be that high. If anyone has any insights into this, I'd be really interested.
