2 weeks left of my self imposed takeaway embargo. This thread isn't helping!

Strictly off topic from dirty takeaways, can anyone recommend a gourmet kebab in the Leeds area? As in - identifiable meat, eat when sober, etc...

There's a place in Beeston that are supposed to do a great kebab, home seasoned meats etc, I'll try find it!

Also Gzing down near Mabgate mills is pretty good, Kurdish place, friendly. not gourmet but decent. Don't drive anything nice there, it's rough.

Venus in Holbeck are good. Not been to Gzing in a while but it was always spot on. Haftsin on Burley Rd is meant to be good. I'm a big fan of the mixed grill from Shawarma opposite Leeds Uni, the garlic sauce is superb with it.

I put a bit of thought and effort into this - I wish I hadn't bothered.
I've never had chicken doner before, so a bit of googling and a 15 mile detour to a random kebabery I ended up with this example of a mixed doner 'bab.
It was poor. The sauce was like a broth - thick with no zing. On the plus side the rabbit food was nice and crunchy.
I fear it may come back to haunt me later...

That does look rather depressing. A proper chicken donner always hits the spot, sadly I only have a few reliable establishments and both of them are a minimum of 40 min round trip from me.

Exgtt - yup, deadly delicious chilli sauce. They've change their stock since thankfully! I work down the road in Beeston so I'll have to drop by there again soon.

Thanks. I'm up at the Uni in a few weeks, I'll try it then.

Why didn't you post that a few days earlier?
I reckon the thought of tariff free Dutch takeaway filth would have been a major influencing factor in the vote.

I can also recommend a place called Caravanserai in Leeds city centre. Cracking middle eastern food and reasonably priced.
