If any of yee shandy drinking suvern types get the chance to sample this stuff, I can highly recomend. Micro brewery in Newcastle and the appropriately named "blackout" is simply devine. It's strong but not harsh and full of flavour. http://biglampbrewers.co.uk/shop/blackout/
Yes, highly recommended. Best served on tap in Newburn!toon10 said:

Ye gods, I didn't know that Big Lamp was still brewing let alone still producing Blackout!I've just checked my 1989 edition of the GBG and, yes, it's listed (both brewery and beer)!
On the subject of loopy Northern beers, is the Frog & Parrot in Sheffield still going and brewing its "Roger And Out"?
Hello peeps....dont post often, but beer is a somewhat emotive subject for me so couldnt resist! With respect to the beer down south served through a sprinkler discussion, well I'm originally from Huddersfield, and though I have lived and worked daan sarf for a great many years, my taste in beer is still somewhat 'northern' (absolutely love copper dragon's golden pippin!!) and I do like the extra body it can add when pumped through a sprinkler. I also find myself drinking the still stuff much faster!
The only pub I have come across in London which does in fact use a sprinkler is the Princess Louise near Holborn Tube, its a Sam Smiths pub though...so you'll have to be aquainted with their beers brewed in slate lined vats, as it does impart an unusual...but pleasant flavour. Plus you dont get cheaper than a Sam Smiths boozer this side of the Warford Gap!
Re best place yet to have a beer imho...the Kings Head in Huddersfield train station has the best selection of well kept beers I have ever had the pleasure to come across....along with free live music on a sunday afternoon, heaven!!

. Oh and if in the Thames Valley do try anything from Rebellion (except the mild, obviously) or Chiltern Ales from Aylesbury.
Cheers!
Cheers!
Also Vale brewery and Tring brewery, both do some great beer. Gravitas from Vale goes down extremely well
