Try the Corryvreckan if you haven't already. One of my all time favourites.
amazingly spicy, love it
How does it rate on the 'like licking an ashtray' scale, I normally avoid Ardbegs. Talisker is about as smokey as I go....
it's not overly smoky, but ardbegs all do have big taste (each with its own 'jump to the front' characteristic) and a common signature that some find they aren't up the challenge of. I would say Corry is extremely spicy!

I hear what you are saying, but making it a challenge that some are not up too is a bit, well, wrong....

Not at all - if it was something everyone could drink it would be a simple malt or blend which to many of us would be a bit boring to be honest! As long as we have the choice then it's great - Ardbeg for those of us who want to get our heads blown off and have to sleep in a separate room that night, Tamdhu or similar for the softies, wink

i was being a bit tongue in cheek. The people that love it love it. Can't cater to everyone all the time.

I have several different drinking whiskies plus this one from a late friend of the family. I've been inclined to hold onto it.

I do have an Islay I love but it's a rarity in its nothing like a 'normal' Islay.... Bunnahabhain, possibilly one of my favourites if not the favourite...

Nothing rare or expensive in my collection it does cover pretty much every type though; Highland, Lowland, Speyside, Island and Islay.

Just opened a bottle of this:

Not quite as good as the 15 Revival, but very smooth & drinkable.

No Campbeltown

Here's where to correct the deficit

Thanks for that, I'll add it to the list for my next round of purchases.

Well impressed with this.....

Blend, retails under £35 and smooth as.

Not sure what the chill-filtered nonsense is all about, but when it tastes this good who cares?

CF is for the american market because for some reason they love to put ice in whisky. The ice makes non-CF whisky go cloudy, but CF removes fats and taste. Many whiskies are marketed specifically as non-CF. I've never seen one that cites CF as a benefit. Still as you say, if it's nice then cool!

I managed to go to the Stavanger whisky club's monthly meeting this week as I am here with work. The theme was 4 of Adelphi's Liddesdale (Bunnahabhain) 21yo's. These are sherry casks and we tried batch 4, 5, 6 and 9. The overall vote was that batch 4 was best.

After that I had these 3. The Arran was a Norway only release (Bourbon cask).

I'm very low on Dalmore King Alexander III, and have been watching prices since it appears to have jumped to £140 this year. Dropped to £119 on Amazon today (seller 31Dover, who I've used before) in case anybody else is tempted.
Is it a big jump from the 15? After something nice for xmas day.
In my opinion, yes. I must confess I bought 3 bottles at the reduced price......

Tonight's dram is Tamnavulin NAS an absolute bargain at £20 in Morrisons, it's got everything you'd expect for a Speyside single malt for not a lot of money.
