I haven't posted much recently as a move and work has kept me too busy in the last 3 months but I have been enjoying some of the following whiskies:
First release of the IS from Amrut that I found in the celler after packing everything up. I thought that it was with the rest of the collection in the UK but I invited a couple of friends over and we went through it quite quickly. It had slipped my mind just how good it is.
A little bit of a sherry bomb. It was curious because on some days you didn@t need a drop of water and on others I needed to drink it 50/50. Lovely and most likely a total one off from Spirt and Cask at this ABV
Another Spirt and Cask bottling. Huge peat that was very mellow. I need to pick up another one at some point and very good bang for your buck.
I do love a good Aberfeldy. In the past couple of years it has become a firm favourite and the 21 yo is very good. This one was bottled for the Whisky Shop and was finished in a couple of evenings with my GF. One of her all time favourites but virtually impossible to find now.
I don't know why this has rotated.
On of my all time favourite whiskies. I bought this in 2009 as was drinking quite a bit of the Yamazaki 12 and 18yo at the time (when they were cheap)and thought I would give it a try. Lovely, subtle whisky tending towards bourbon but without the honey flavours associated with it. I would not buy it at today's prices but I was lucky enough to grab a bottle when they were fairly priced.
Although no picture, friends and I also polished off another find in the celler (pointless moving with half open bottles!). A Balvenie Golden Cask which was only available in Duty Free a few years ago. It was..............OK. Quite disappointed as I do like a good rum finish.
There have been some other whiskies in the mix too but I cannot remember them now. I only have one open at the moment which has not been the case for years. A Ben Riach Madeira Cask 15yo which I also found the the celler! Bloody lovely.

king. My GF managed to order 2 bottles at 8am GMT. I then tried but could not log in until 9am when it went live as advertised. Still managed my 2 bottles but has my GF didn't receive conformation she ordred again and we have ended up with 6 bottles!
Have just been on the phone to cancel 2 of them.
I tried to log in at 8am and it wouldn't recognise my password. Asked for a reset and never received the mail so i called them up and was told it was a system error which would be fixed by 9am. king. My GF managed to order 2 bottles at 8am GMT. I then tried but could not log in until 9am when it went live as advertised. I kept on trying to log in after 9am and still had no luck. God only knows why but i re-clicked the link in the e-mail i was sent and got straight through.
Then again, it wouldn't be an Ardbeg release without purchasing issues would it?

I've always wondered why this was the case with some whiskies. Not sure if it's to do with what you have tasted before or something else, but it is strange in some ways.It's always nice to find some bottles you'd kind of forgotten about, and having a good excuse to drink them,
Very nice.After missing out on the Ardbeg kelpie comittee release, I am looking for ideas for a whisky gift for a special 30th birthday. He's a whisky fan, and definitely enjoys the smokey varieties. I thought the Kelpie would've been nice from his 30th year, whether to drink or keep.... any ideas welcome, probably to max of £100

I'm looking for a 21st birthday gift, I was wondering about a bottle of 21yr old malt, I figure the recipient can either neck it with his mates mixed with Aldi cola, keep it for another 21 yrs until he's old enough to appreciate it, or by that time it might be worth a few bob which may well come in handy.
Can you see any flaws in my grand scheme? Is there much of a market for old whiskey? I wouldn't know about such things as I mainly drink rose wine spritzers.

Does he like whisky? You will be looking at around 100 quid for a 21, or most likely more so drinking it with coke will be a waste.As to something that he could sell on, who knows. If it is a limited bottling from a big name then most likely but then the initial price will be more likely in thwe 200-300 quid range.

all are superb and will appreciate in value over time, but I would not buy just for profit, as it can take a long time to make a return.
