spent yesterday afternoon at the manchester whisky festival at the town hall. Amazing building. Show wasn't exactly amazing though... think i am falling out of love with these big festivals as they seem to go far too heavy on the bottlers and distributors and fail to attract decent distilleries along. I'm not interested in drinking whisky from bottlers, the only thing different is the bottle itself and the name. They've even started getting a long a number of rums and gins... clearly struggling to get the numbers if focusing purely on whisky. Bit underwhelming. I was hungover though too which didn't help.

It's been a long day. I'm not expecting to see any of these survive the night.

I bought an Old Pulteney 12 year today, 30quid from Sainsbury.

I love it! Absolute bargain, and must be one of the best Whisky's readily available from the supermarketsmile

Anyone tried the Kavalan Sherry Oak?
Starting to look at Christmas stuff and had planned to grab a Yamazaki 18 but the entire country seems to have been pillaged!
Kavalan seem to have been getting praised quite a lot in the recent years and I love a sherry cask so thought potentially worth a go!

I was told over the weekend that Waitrose ''festival'' starts in about a week - stuff that's on offer should stay on offer and most other stuff joining it.

Anyone else win a bottle of the White Stag second edition? I got one but "gave" my order to a friend who is a massive Arran fan. Plus he has the first edition, and has it for drinking/ collecting rather than flipping. So it's nice for him to be able to continue with the set.

They have the normal Kavalan but don't know about any others.

If it's within your budget, I highly recommend this - https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/18121/kavalan-...
