I'm sure it's quite nice though.
not so sure. Of the old whisky i've tasted (and there aren't THAT many i guess), I haven't really been blown away by any of them.

I'd like to hope so after dropping over 100K! I'd love to see the owners face when they open it !
As long as they don't drop it first.. hehe

Personally, I couldn't help thinking of the scene in Angel's Share where two bottles meet an untimely end!!

Opened this....

Lovely, soft, sweet dram. Goes well with a winter afternoon and the wood burner lick

That's a rare and now expensive half bottle, too rich for my budget unless you bought it a while ago before prices went silly.

Cheaper when you travel - ignore the £200 price tag in shops.

Can also be picked up at auction for under £100.

But that's still for a half bottle, no?

You got that very cheap compared to the last 2 that sold! The Kininvie was also a good price. I was having a look at some sherry stuff, but the prices seem to have moved up a bit again. Seems like anything "dark" coloured, single cask and with sherry in the name is in big demand. Tried to get some stuff in Sweden but had a lot of issues with stuff getting cancelled - the system seems to be a mess and shows a lot of stuff in stock that isn't actually there now. And the purchase in Norway didn't go through when they had the release here as my account got corrupted when they updated the system so the stuff I wanted was sold out when it got fixed, :'(

Yeah, I did OK.

The Kininvie was £55 (less than I paid in Gatwick in the summer), the BenRiach £85 (I paid £95 from HTFW last time) and £160 (whoops) for the GLG Octave bottle.

However, £300 hammer price + VAT + Delivery + Insurance + fk knows what else, leaves you with a bill for £367. That's some markup...

I know it's a bit more mainstream, but one of the reasons I was asking earlier for people's view on the Glemorangie Quinta Ruban, as it struck me as being a reasonable way into decent sherry/port heaven...but at sub £50 it's a bit more than my usual 25-35 supping bracket.

That reads like a good haul, I tend to get through best part of a bottle some weeks (don't tell the doctor!) so would have to save these for high days and holidays only if I was not to bankrupt myself....
