Discussion
One of my memories of 2016 was eating some Marmite flavoured chocolate Easter Egg I was given (wasn't looking forward to it) with a drop of Lagavullin 16 I got on offer from Glasgow airport. An oddly complimentary match.
The fact that it's also Ron Swanson's tipple of choice adds to the enjoyment. Not that he'd eat Marmite flavoured chocolate.

I fell for a £10 clearance offer on this in Morrisons:
It is without question the worst drink I have ever tasted. My mates and I took great pleasure in throwing it on the fire. Avoid at all costs.
Have now gone for a bottle of this, on special at about £17:
Hasn't arrived yet but hoping for better luck this time round.
The Double Oak stuff is jolly nice for £17. It is without question the worst drink I have ever tasted. My mates and I took great pleasure in throwing it on the fire. Avoid at all costs.

It's £40 and I think it's excellent
I opened mine tonight and agree. It's very nice; reminiscent of an older Glenfarclas.
Bargain.
Finally found a review for it to... https://thewhiskyphiles.com/2016/11/17/glen-marnoc...
I have already drammed 1 bottle plus half of another, not managed to find anymore!

I ordered discounted Lagavulin 16, it hasn't been dispatched yet. How did you miss out?
I asked for the whole lot to be delivered to my work, which closes today until 03 January. They didn't manage to do that (despite them saying it would be here by Tuesday). So back the whole lot goes for a refund. tts!
Christmas whisky...
The wife and I agreed that we wouldn't do presents as we're both of the nature that if we want something we'll go and get it. This didn't sit well with the youngest who is obsessed with frogs. I had to buy frog wine (easy thanks to a local Waitrose) and she had to buy frog whisky:

I got a bottle of Jura superstition which I'd not tried before. Not too bad, but probably not one I'd buy again.
I'm with you on that, it's the high side of a middling whisky to me. Perfectly acceptable at the price but not something I'd seek out unless on offer. I did find it did improve a little with a bit of air time though. Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
