Will get skewered for this but I just can't have French reds. What is the point of Beaujolais?
I'll wager you have not tried a decent Moulin a vent? The society's own Beaujolais villages is corking value, a great BBQ wine. Gets legions of positive reviews.

The Wine Society is by a distance the best wine merchant in the UK. it's a remarkable organisation in many ways. Compared to Laithwaites or Virginwines or pretty much any of the other mail order lot its in a different class.
It's not the cheapest way to buy wine though typically its competitive, what it doesn't do is heavy discounting loss leader offers like a supermarket can but it is THE most reliable supplier of just about any style of wine you can buy. It's own label wines are excellent examples of their type and their exhibition range is top quality.

They offer an absolutely no quibble guarantee on anything you buy (In my case that included replacing a £150 bottle of Haut Brion without a murmur despite me bring back a bottle with maybe an inch of wine left in it)
They refunded me the price of one bottle without me even asking.

I had a bottle of Cotes de Bordeaux as part of a mixed case and I put up a review saying it was ok but a bit of a disappointment. It wasn't a complaint as I drank all of it and it was ok but it was just a bit of a let down from other reviews of it and what I was expecting.

One day later I had an email saying they were sorry I didn't like it and had credited my account with the cost of the bottle.

Rather partial to Wollemi chardonnay from Sainsburys at £3.75 a bottle drunk
Had a glass of that on Saturday night at a dinner party - I was very pleasantly surprised!

I must also give a vote of confidence for Naked Wines. I'd bought a half case of some of their pricier wines and one was very disappointing, probably corked. I left a poor review, nothing more. Here's the email that I received yesterday:

Just getting in touch in regards to the bottle of Maurizio Castelli Rosso di Montalcino 2013 you rated recently. From the sounds of it you may have had a bad bottle and that's never a nice experience.

No to worry though I've refunded the cost of that bottle back to your card and you should see that back in your bank within the next 3-5 working days.

I'd also like to send a bottle of something nice out to you as a further apology for this. What kind of wines are you into so I can send something you'll really enjoy?
You can't say fairer than that! thumbup

Waitrose do a white I really like for £7.99, sometimes discounted.

Only problem is everyone else must like it because they never have it in stock - in the last year I've once seen 3 bottles on waitrosecellar.com but you have to order a minimum of 6 and I didn't bother. Regretting that a bit.
Back in stock, although limited stock again already it seems. Link to it now I've had 30 bottles arrive (approx £5.50 a bottle). smile

If you have a Lidl nearby then get a bottle of "Rioja Joven" (unoaked), £4.00, or "Rioja Reserva" £4.50.

They are both superb, and I believe that similar tasting wines would cost more than £12.00 in Waitrose.
Good tip this, I tried both on your advice and enjoyed both, especially the reserva. Price of both seem to have risen mind.

I'm sure most will disagree with me on this but Aldis' pinot noir is one of the best summer red wines I've ever had

Asda Malbec Reserva has recently won a Platinum, Best in Show at the Decenter world wine awards and is under £5 a bottle.

The wife tried to order a case on line but unsurprisingly it had sold out.

Mrs Noise picked up a couple of these a while ago.
She bought more last week, so a thumbs up from the Noisy household too smile
