Radler is OK cold on a hot day, but it is a sugary soft drink. Fewer calories and carbs in Nanny State.

I was surprised by the wide range of alcohol free beers available in Spain. My favourite is Finkbrau, only available in Lidl in Spain. Bargain price too at 0.27€ per 33 cl tin. Sadly, Lidl UK don't stock it.

On a recent visit to Germany, despite Finkbrau being made there I couldn't find it in any Lidl store.
Lidl sell beer called Grafenwalder in DE now and a 'premium' called Perlenbacher, both as 0% too and at least Grafenwalder as weizen, and weizen 0%. I think Perlenbacher as a radler (shandy) as well

Most of the discount beers are made at 2 or 3 big breweries often with their own branded beers. Frankfurter Brauerei make Lidl's

Not quite a real Erdinger but a good effort.

This thread is great. I never knew there were so many options! I just need to find places that stock them now. scratchchin
Any big Tesco will stock most of them - mine does. Pretty sure the local Waitrose has a decent selection too. Not ventured to the other supermarkets so can't comment further

Sorry I just don't get non alcohol beer, there are far more refreshing drinks to have when avoiding alcohol. Maybe just me though...
I can't see the point either.
I think the same too, I've tried a few Weisbiers 0.5% and found them drinkable but wouldn't have them out of choice, sort of wet cardboard/shredded wheat soaked in water taste. You may as well have something instead of beer, but if you do want beer and be safer with driving etc, there are some very good beers at low alch.

Adnams have a pale ale under 3%, there's things like Berliner Weiss and framboise/fruit lambics often 2.5-2.7%, one of my favourite session beers Brooklyn Half-ale at 3.4%, as well as plenty of ales in the high 3s.

Clausthaller is one 0% that's supposed to be ok, though I haven't tried that personally.

Some of that was left were we stayed in France a few years ago, perhaps a bit off? but the stuff was afwul, not sure if it was a 0% or not.

I was in France earlier this year and looked in Lidl for the 0% Finkbrau, they only had the normal. The 0% is in a blue coloured tin, whereas the Full Fat is green. Perhaps it's me though and to normal folks it tastes crap. I don't like Becks 0%, but it's very popular.

Non alcoholic beer. It's like going down on your sister. "It tastes the same but it's just not right"

I tried Nanny State last night. Ugh, it was horrible.

The hops part was OK, quite nice even but the rest was bitter and thin.

I buy Becks Blue for the school nights when I want a bit of refreshment and relaxation without the thick head the next morning. It's amazing how the taste of something that you assiciate with being alcoholic can bring about some of the same psycological effects.
I like BB but oddly it actually gives me a thick head the morning after if I have more than 2 bottles, same for my father-in-law. I can't stand soft drinks in general so my only other alternative is sparkling water which gets a bit tedious after a while. Having been a victim of a drink-driver many years ago with an injury to this day because of it, I never take any chances, even with 1 "proper" beer. Prepare for incoming, but I find a dash of lime improves it. Will try the others as well now.

To be honest I quite like a nice shandy on a hot day, lager or bitter!

Sorry to read about the injury that you still carry. I hope that you are still able to carry out normal day-to-day activities.

I'm completely with you on the driving front. One of my sister's friends was knocked off a bike and killed during her first year of uni and her sorrow left an impression on me. Then a few years later one of my close friends' fathers was killed on Christmas Eve by a drunk-driver. That was a somewhat harrowing few months! frown There's just no need.

Glad I found this thread, I was about to start one. I'm after some options for low alc long drinks. I love a g&t but that's not really advisable mid week. Google wasn't much help, either complicated mocktails or spritzers that still work out around 5%.

I've tried Cobra and Bavaria and thought them both disgusting. I like the Bavaria 5% but the 0% tasted like water and honey to me.

Beck's Blue is not too bad, and on a hot day it's refreshing, although as has been said, two's enough.

As an alternative, Tesco sells a bitter and lager from their 'Everyday' range. 2% abv, if you think of it like a shandy without the sweetness, it's OK - compared to 0%s at least - and 4 for £1.
