Quick and simple one I hope.

I have roughly 65 guests coming to the christening of my two little ones in two weeks.

Panic has set in slightly and I am now ordering the booze.

I am bargaining on 18 bottles of Prosecco for arrival bubbly (already purchased), then 24 red / 24 white and a barrel of wherry for quaffing, and possibly some token lager beers for the continental types.

A) Is that enough, bearing in mind it will be a Sunday and a percentage will drive, but those who drink, like to do so..

B) To boost volumes, does anyone have current preferences or suggestions on decent whites and reds from wine soc for £6? I have tried a few but my memory is not helping. Viognier Marsanne springs to mind and the WinSoc Claret. Would they go down well?

Failing that likely I will go for Berrys GOC (£8.1) and WinSoc Pinot (£7.25) unless any better suggestions around that level, if those sound unsuitable as a catch all offering.

Cheers,

Charlie

With those volumes, is it worth you going to Majestic (or similar) in Calais?

AFAIK if you spend £250, they'll pay for your crossing ticket too smile

That's not a bad shout - nice little day out as well. Think you can choose ferry or tunnel, as well.

What you're suggesting there is a bottle of wine per head + beer. Reality is that most won't drink anywhere near that so you'll have loads over. We supplied the booze for our wedding and went a bit crazy, didn't have to buy a bottle of wine for about six months afterwards.

No chance I will get to calais between now and Sunday week. Which is a shame as that looks like a good option. Ill dive into the WineSoc and go for the value/volume option, as its just around the corner. So any suggestions on what to go for?

Sounds like I have over estimated, but as pointed out, it will save me buying wine after for a while if there are leftovers.

Cheers
