I have managed to get to 56 and never had a corn dog until last weekend, i know hot dag sausages contain a load of cr$p but i love them, so where can i buy corn dogs to cook at home? Google has not been my friend.

I think I've seen them in the frozen section in Costco.

I am a member and can call in for a look the next time I pass the one in Leeds and report back.

But I don't know when I will next be passing, it may be in the next couple of weeks.

They're really easy to make if you have a deep fat fryer. The only gotcha is that all the recipes online are American and call for corn flour or cornmeal which you'll never find in the supermarket unless you know to look for polenta instead. I've made them with vegetarian hot dogs and they work really well.

My local morrisons at Kirkstall leeds does both fine and course cornmeal, not hard to find or expensive , i use a 50 50 mix of both. just look in the ethnic section of any large supermarket you should find it. i bought a 20 quid deep fat fryer at asda just to cook corndogs in, i use spry crisp n dry oil. as good as anything and works well. Will have to check the leeds costco, keep meaning to join, just because of the amount of bog roll her indoors uses , plus a mate brought home a few family pizzas and they were delicious.

You need to buy some Masa Harina, can be bought online or in big supermarkets.

Bag of polenta flour can be found in morrisons, next to the lentils.

Right i had a go at these at the weekend used the recipe from evilmunkey (thanks) and also got the fine and coarse cornmeal as evilmunkey suggested from morrisons less than 90p a bag smile and used Wikinger Bockwurst sausages, not a great selection of hotdog sausages in Morrisons.

Worked a treat wooden skewers a bit long but easily sorted.

made the batter leaving it in the fridge to cool for an hour.

decided to use the original jar to coat the sausages.

into medium hot vegetable oil.

4-5 minutes then drain on kitchen roll.

mustard and ketchup added.

Money shot tasted great - many thanks to all who helped.

Cheers Frank.

Great thinking on the jar/batter interface. Cracking job, I'd have been poncing about with a tray/dish.

Gonna try this recipie, thanks !n I bought a tin of the sausages for £1 in tesco and was wondering what to do with them. If I like them, and I will, I'll use a better quality sausage next time.

I expect the lower quality sausage the better for this particular delicacy!

I tried my first and last one of these a couple of years ago at Bahia Honda beach in the Florida Keys.
It was one of the worst things I've ever tasted.
Good luck!
