Tried a bag of Dinky Deckers yesterday. Rubbish. Insufficient biscuit.
As did I, they're on special in Tesco. Rubbish. Taste nothing like a double decker.
I'll second that. Taste more like a bendy bus.

Nope still same.
You sure? Some newspapers carried the story that the recipe had changed.

Most of the major manufacturers are "at it" one way or another..

Kit-Kat 4 finger now 40.5g (from 45g)
Kit-Kat chunky is barely 2 mouthfuls now
Most of the Mondelez (Cadburys/Kraft) £1 chocolate bags have just reduced in weight
Snickers are a joke size wise
Most Multi packs are "snack-size"

The government are trying to get all single serve bars to below 250Kcals, so manufacturers are reducing sizes, but not cost prices/RRPs.
I heard it was also in light of the weakness of the pound - to maintain the snack at the same cost point (+ inflation).

When did production swap from using vegetable oil to using palm oil in the Dairy Milk receipe? I'm convinced that Kraft changed the receipe as it just doesn't taste like it used to. The change from rectangular to rounded chunks came in after the Kraft acquisition and I don't believe that the shape of the chunk influences the flavour. Dairy Milk now tastes chalky rather than creamy - much like the appalling Hershey's chocolate. I haven't bought it for years now.

Currency and Commodity pricing will always affect the production price. That gives you 2 options as a manufacturer, either increase pricing or decrease size.
Chocolate consumption within the UK is pretty static, and has been for a few years really.

Vote with your feet / taste buds or whatever! Stop buying the products, they'll hopefully get the message that we do not like what they're doing. We, the public should do this with a lot of companies but we're too f*kin lazy, 'oh well, someone else will do it for us'

FFS come on Britain, Get a F*kin Grip and stand up for yourselves!!

How do I start a Blog because we are just letting companies, governments and anybody get away with sh*t like this.

I am slightly drunk as per, or due, to my other thread in SP&L, but totally coherent and totally p*ssed off with me/us getting shafted!

Mini Rant over, too little swearing maybe?

It's all about maintaining the Great Lie of ''no inflation''... meanwhile just about every consumer product is getting reduced in size or quality (or both) while the price stays the same.

I'm passed off because Quality Street are replacing the chocolate toffee with a honeycomb. They say it's because people say there are too many toffees in the tin. So how come people have bought these for 80 years? Just so happens swapping chocs saves 30g per tin. bds.

I think you are getting confused with Mars, who changed palm oil to veg oil.

they still use according to there website.

''Milk, sugar, cocoa butter, cocoa mass, vegetable fats (palm, shea), emulsifiers (E442, E476), flavourings. ''

https://www.cadbury.co.uk/products/Dairy-Milk-2360...

In America it is a lot worse, I am sure if they could there wouldn't be any chocolate in it as it just too costly.

Wagon Wheels rant.

In the 1960's when they were "Westons" wagon wheels, NOT Burtons they were at least twice as big as they are now, and they were only 9d.

Aye, I remember that.

In fact, I remember the time when snowballs from the school tuck shop were so big you could bury someone's face in them.

Endless fun...smile

And it took a week to eat a Mars bar.

Eeee, lad, them wuz the days....Jamie Oliver would have gone apoplectic back then. Which is a nice thought. Deep joy....hehe

Didn't they reduce the level of cocoa solids down to about 14%, the main one that raise this issue was the Cream Egg, which now taste nothing like they used to.

The Mrs would only eat Cadbury's now all she eats is Galaxy as she doesn't like Cadbury's anymore.

This resizing has been going on for decades. I remember in ~1984 buying a tube of rolos from a newsagents to find one missing. I went back in to complain to find all were the same. Rowntrees had removed one from each pack to keep the price the same while costs were rising, while also keeping the pack appearance the same so people would not notice.

Are you in the UK or US ? in the US Cadbury's dairy milk IS hershey's cholocate. There were people importing the 'real' stuff but then there was a court case to stop it being imported in commercial quantities.
