I remember a date many years ago where I arrived with one of each. Only to witness both bottles being shoved into the fridge!
My advice arrive with a bottle of Blue Nun - if her face lights up drop the decent stuff on the door step to collect upon leaving in the morning - you'll likely need it then.
If you witness a look of shock and dismay then proffer up the decent stuff and tell her that you only brought the BN so thatduring your post meal stroll you can hand it out to a homeless person on the street corner you can rinse your knob in it..

Date was postponed.

Rescheduled after she gets back form holidays.
Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.

You can get a bottle of Barolo for that money, no problem. Never had one I didn't enjoy. Otherwise with ragu I'd go Amarone as mentioned, Bardolino or even a nice Barbera d'Asti.
Don't buy French or you'll look like a wally.
Barbaresco is a far better bet at this budget than Barolo. Very similar but Barbaresco drinks far better when young that Barolo where you either have to pay a lot for a an older vintage or buy them young and store them.Don't buy French or you'll look like a wally.
Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Barbaresco is obviously easy to get hold of and is £10.

Well, thank goodness to hear there's more of this story to come, but sorry to learn the reason. All the best!

Speech is not quite back to how it was before, but I'm about 95% and they reckoned it would be at the very least three weeks before I was back to normal, so I think I got off lightly!
Nasty stuff, glad you are on the mend.
You do realise you now need to jump in there quick. Whilst having a speech impediment might be seen by some as a disadvantage, you should think of the greater opportunity to hand off that Blue Nun you bought.
You'll be able to communicate perfectly with your choice of homeless charity person and appear deeply caring and sharing to your prospective.
I only jest as back in Jan this year I caught a dose of flu, this later translated to an almost total loss in the ability to speak. Laryngitis so to speak. But it wasn't and after numerous endoscopic investigations it was declared my larynx was perfectly normal but 90% paralysed.
The best guess given was that the flu virus had infected the nerves controlling the larynx, and I was surprised to learn that these nerves run down and around the heart and near the lungs.
It took about five or six months for me to finally get the abillity to talk again back. What I found most enlightening was the fact that I'd always considered a severe disability as being something like being unable to see, hear, walk etc, being unable to talk was a massive inconvenience.
Hope you make a good recovery!

Get well soon, sounds like you need a nice wine to relax!
Get well soon wine buyer. A mate had BP a few years ago now, he made a recovery but it took a while and he still has a slightly lopsided smile.
Re your date, I wouldn't wait too long. IME being injured is a bit of a pull on the lay-deez, I'm not sure why but putting my amateur psychologist hat on I think it fits their instinct to care for others. Just as long as she stops short of serving you hot milk and biscuits you should be in the clear. I'd approach it with a "sorry I missed you the other day, been a bit unwell, I'm on the mend now, not back at work just yet but I'm sure I could manage a lovely dinner, just about, cough cough, agh, the war wound...no, really, I'm fine...the pain never lasts more than a few...hours...agh...so, about 8, Friday? Lovely. I'll bring the wine." Just make sure you can spoon a lasagne down your throat without wearing too much of it. Good luck. Wear a coloured shirt.
