Got a group coming for dinner on Saturday, for one of whom gluten, yeast, onion and meat are off the menu.

I think I'm safe for the savoury side of things, but would appreciate suggests on desserts please. Best I've come up with so far is a flour-free chocolate and pear cake, and I'm sure the PH collective can do better!

Main course will be middle-east inspired, should that provide any inspiration.

Thanks thumbup

Just to make this even easier, I've just discovered no dairy is allowed either...

Meringue (or chocolate) mille feuille? - layered with berries and cream (skip the cream for your guest and go heavy on coulis)
Or layered/stacked with a thick citrus curd perhaps? Or if feeling keen a lemon meringue roulade rolled but with only cream up one end?

So yeah - meringue and fruit

Fairly simple - got to get the meringue right though! (Chewy)

Give Mary berry a tweet?

If they are allowed eggs, then some sort of meringue and fruit concoction as said above.

If not then meringue and fruit, without the meringue.

Why even bother? Give her a Banana whilst the rest of your guests enjoy a Full Fat, Sugar Laden, Mega Calorie, Gorgeous Sweet. Be sure to look out for the 'Green Eyed Monster' though as she looks at her Banana and thinks ' Maybe I shouldn't try and be Sooo Trendy / Picky / F*kin Awkward / Attention Seeking!! (and I know a few, male and female!)
With a little planning and acting on your part, "Sorry, didn't know what else would fit in with your requirements, Sorry Again!"
Apologies to any real allergic people, and to the Lady in question if genuine!! some people do play for attention but not all obviously!

Sorry All, seem to have writers unblock lately, long time lurking, short time posting! Verbal / Written Diarrhoea at the moment, didn't appreciate how posting could be fun provided you comment tongue in cheek! smile

Funny how you've all assumed that it's a 'she'.

Obviously, it is.

She has offered to bring her own food, but I refuse to be beaten.

Meringue and fruit is a good shout. I've also seen a bunch of recipes that call for wheat-free flour and gluten-free chocolate - if they're ingredients I'm likely to find in Waitrose then I could be in business.

I'd double check about the eggs.

Pretty sure you can get all the other stuff in a supermarket - just double check that the chocolate contains no dairy.

I see you've already got the gluten free chocolate pud/cake covered, which is where I'd go tbh. On the fruit front jazz it up by making it a flambé perhaps.

You can get Alpro soya custard which is nice - if anything it is richer than the dairy versions. Your other guests wont feel inconvenienced by eating it. Then maybe an oat based crumble?

A big stack of pancakes or American pancakes with assorted fillings: fruit, cream, syrup, chocolate etc... can make batter with gluten free flour and any number of nut milks who doesn't like pancakes.

I know it's not very ph, but..

Not all of these attention seeking diets are by choice. My wife can't do gluten or chilli at all, and has to be careful to not over cheese. Pre issue, she loved bread, cheese and she loved Thai with a good kick to it. I regularly hear "oh god I wish I could eat that"
All issues are somehow linked to an emergency c section, but neither we nor the nhs have a clue what's causing it. Eating cheese on toast would have her in agony for hours frown

Of course, if your mate arrives with any sort of hemp clothing, they're probably just a dick smile

PS - you can buy good gluten free cakes from some farm shops, if you're limited to waitrose then check out gu desserts. They're chocolate in a pot and pass the crappy eating check list.

Pps - wtf puts onion in a pudding?

I make a gluten and dairy free chocolate brownie, works very well.

Spec:

Baking Marg 750
Oil 200
Eggs 13
Caster sugar 1350
Cornflour 75
Cocoa powder 275

This makes 32 portions!! Use a quarter of each in a normal 8" cake tin and its fine.

Microwave the marg and cocoa powder and mix, add the oil.

Whisk the eggs to thick ribbons, continue whisking to combine sugar and cornflour.

Add the cocoa mix to the eggs and pour out into a lined tin.

Bake at 160-180 for 40-60 minutes depending on your oven. It will soufflé up then collapse. Set in the fridge.

Really simple and sticky. Could serve with dairy free ice cream and a fruit compote? That's what I do in school and the kids love it.
