Just a thought......

Collecting two elderly parents from returning cruise in Southampton on Thursday to pop them back onto a ferry home to France mid afternoon.

They'd like a quick lunch/catch up stop and it occurs to me that PS might be an ideal point. Not been there for years but had a quick look at the web site and plenty of choice it seems.

After what they've probably been eating, not attempting to compete but somewhere pleasant, accessible and not full of screaming children would be the target!

Suspect might be a challenge at this time of year but any thoughts most welcome.

Port Solent is likely to be busy.

As an alternative between Southampton and Portsmouth you have the boathouse at swanwick Marina which is very good http://www.idealcollection.co.uk/theboathousecafe-...

For good value and surroundings I'd plump for https://www.portsolent.com/brasserie-fish-grill ,the fish and chips are well worth it smile Normally quiet when we go in there but obviously can't guarantee anything this time of year.
Whiteley is always an option but will be busy, loads of restaurants to choose from there.

Port Solent is nice though, easy to park and good to look at the boats before going to buy a lottery ticket biggrin

There is a new section that has opened in Port Solent to the right hand side. Upstairs is a little tea rooms with light bites, sandwiches and great cakes. Can't imagine they'd want anything too substantial if they have been on a cruise and I'd recommend it.

Thanks folks. They were indeed overfed by Cunard so elected for a visit to John Lewis instead. Easy!
