Dominos is so grim, papa johns used to be great but now it's like it has no depth of flavour, Pizza Hut is the same.

I like the Chicago town take away ones, they are very cheesy, good sauce, great dough and stuff crusted. and it's
Only £2

Of the three, I prefer Dominos, but frankly all three are an expensive rip-off and not stuff that should be eaten with any regularity. The ingredients, particularly the toppings, are mostly cheap processed crap.

As for local independents - good luck taking your chances on how many mouse droppings or dead rats you might find behind the scenes. Far too many of these places now getting shut down by environmental health. At which point the owner says it's actually his twin brother's, who has been out of the country for six months.

I'd rather eat at home.
On the note of the local independents, don't assume because it's a independent cheap chain it's filthy, the vale resort in the vale of Glamorgan which hosts people including Welsh football and rugby teams, high profile business meetings etc recently got a 0 food hygiene raiting for their kitchen, and yes they still charge £35 for steak and chips

Dominos, if i'm forced to choose between them.

I made a mistake of going to www.francomanca.co.uk in London last year and now all of the chains (inc. Pizza Express) are just sub-standard...!

If you live in London then Franco Manca sts all over every other pizza chain. For a tenner you get one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten and it's consistently fantastic.

I'd rather get a fried pizza from the chippy than any of the chain pizza place tbh laugh.

Fortunately our local chippy does decent actual pizza as well so it's not the only choice.

Was going to say pizza pilgrims. Incredible. Have you tried the salted ricotta and Nutella ring desert?

The Plough in Harbourne, Birmingham. top, top pizza from their menu.
Then Dominos.
I have something called Perfect Pizza near me, independent but have a few branches scattered around. They're always very nice.

I have, the Burrata starter is also amazing.

This thread should probably be split though. Those out in the sticks don't have access to the same quality as us in the SE wink

The method I use for cooking pizza at home comes from Pizza Pilgrims, I saw it on a short film they ran on the Food Network.

Dough into a hot skillet, build the pizza while the dough is cooking in the pan and then stick it under a hot as it can possibly go grill for a couple of minutes. It does a good job.

Is Pizza Piazza still going? Used to be good.

The Pizza Hut by Lakeside in Essex I couldn't finish - nor could wifey. Simply bathing in grease...not us, the food. Junior liked his.

Since that meal - about four years ago - I've not really been a fan (which is a good thing for the waistline).

My children however have embraced pizza culture with gusto, and insist on Friday night pizza - usually shop bought. That's why we had to buy a microwave with top and bottom elements - they do a passable job.

Failing that an independent Italian outlet usually offers something much nicer than any of the chains, albeit at a higher price. The one in Abergavenny (thank heavens for Trip Advisor!) is triff.

In the meantime Dominos is providing much work for the local postman - probably more than any other single trader in town.

I've never had a 'bad' pizza, just varying levels of loveliness.

I don't eat pizza any more, but I do crave it. frown
