Damn you all to hell, I've not had a takeaway pizza in over a year but reading this has just forced me to order a pappa johns for lunch!

£11.99 collection speacial, XXL half the works half spicy italian and of course the garlic dip.

That's lunch and dinner sorted!

The Plough in Harbourne, Birmingham. top, top pizza from their menu.
Then Dominos.
I have something called Perfect Pizza near me, independent but have a few branches scattered around. They're always very nice.
You're not far from Sentino's in Quinton. I highly recommend them (plus the art on display!)

(for the sake of fairness, lets ignore Papa John's completely vile 'Special Garlic' sauce that comes with their pizzas)
I don't see the point of these three chains.

If I want to get a dirty pizza, then I go to the Indian places and pay little. If I want a good pizza then i go to the nearest proper pizza places and pay more.

These in-between pricepoint chains don't make sense to me personally.

Their prices aren't in-between anymore - Dominoes near us charges almost £20 for cheese and tomato flat sandwich a pizza frown

Of those 3 it is Papa Johns for me, although our local italian restaurant now does their pizzas via Deliveroo, so will use that in future.

I feel less dirty devouring in one sitting 80% of a Papa John's biggest pizza than I do 80% of Domino's. Therefore PJ's gets my vote.

I think Papa John and Dominos are on par.

Being honest, I prefer the PJ Pizza but the sides, etc Dominos are better - (aside from the flat pizza garlic bread PJ do, which Dominos are also doing now, and did in the past)

We had a Dominos yesterday, Large Pizza, Medium Pizza, wedges and garlic bread for £20, can't complain really.

Kind of with you on that. Cheap pizza with a premium price doesn't make sense. On the rare occasion I eat a pizza takeaway (we don't get many takeaways, and they typically tend to be Thai/Indian), it will be a bog standard cheapy from the local non-chain place. I can't say I've eaten many of the chain pizzas that have persuaded me to pay twice as much for them...

Nobody pays those sticker prices though do they? They're about as meaningful as BMW's list prices.

Last week I got 2 large pizzas for £20.

I was about to say the same thing then I saw your post. whilst I agree the price is ridiculous (when it costs them <£4 to make), most people don't really pay full price, everyone uses some kind of deal. BOGOF deals etc.

I still prefer Pizza GOGO though. £11 a pizza on certain weekdays and it's about £7-8 if you collect instead.

More like <£1 if you ignore labour costs.
Even the most expensive Pizza Express pizza will be some way less than <£2 in ingredients.

Out of the three? Papa Johns.

Used to work at Dominos, but it doesn't agree with me? Also low cheese and almost no sauce on a few orders of late. sod that.

But prefer:

Firezza(sp)
Pizza Go-Go
Murati's (Pizzeria in north MK, does takeaway!)

indeed. the more expensive italian/nepolitan style pizzas are even cheaper and use less ingredients but charge loads, it's meant to be a cheap food.

I kind of wish it was cheap here in the same way that USA/new york is cheap, plenty of $1 pizzas over there. and what do we have? st from greggs!

Cheese analogue topped fake ham bread... Would hardly call it pizza....

Still, got to be Dominos for the pizza garlic bread.

Forget the dirty indian, you need a good turkish 'pizza'

The reason why Pizza Express is one of the most profitable restaurant chains on the high street. Money for old rope!

Dominoes is the superior one in my opinion, it's different. Papa Johns is fine but nothing special, Pizza Hut always seem to greasy to me, I heard they spray oil on them after they finish to give them an added gloss, which explains it if they do.

Costco probably does the best pizza for the money though, half the price of the other places and tastes great, shame not much variety though.

"in between"? A large pizza from Dominoes is something outrageous like £17!

Ridiculously good for the price. Service is hit and miss.
