The only alcohol-free beer I've drunk which I could happily drink for the rest of my life was from a Prague brewpub. The only reason I tried it was because my missus was pregnant when we went there, but it was delicious.

Damm is OK, Bitburger Drive is OK, can't stand Beck's Blue or Cobra.

Won't drink Brewdog for personal reasons.

The search goes on. Will try some other suggestions in the thread though.

there's no such thing as an alcohol free beer which is as a good as an alcoholic one, sure, but it's not really intended to be a like-for-like thing... if you're not boozing then you're doing it for a reason, so as close as you are going to get is as good as you are going to get. For all the weirdos saying they don't get the point of alcohol free beer... how about driving, pregnancy/breast-feeding? Yes some women, including Mrs 2CV, like beer.
But in order for it to be a substitute it must be at least similar to the thing it is copying so it should be a like-for-like thing. Becks Blue and the like are fairly similar to their alcoholic counterparts in the sense that they are both garbage.

The best alcohol free beer I have ever had (oh ok 0.3%) is Mikkeller's Drinkin' in the Sun but even that is so far removed from even their lowliest alcoholic offering (and more expensive) that it I would rather have a soft drink if I had reason to not drink alcohol.

Find me an alcohol free Imperial Stout, Belgian Quad or even a Lambic or Saison. You won't be able to because it can't be done to a high enough standard as to satisfy customers of anything other than generic macro brewed "lagers".

I understand the reasons for not drinking alcohol but surely you can't actually like any of the brews mentioned in this thread? Even Nanny State is awful.

I do not understand the attraction of alcohol free versions of alcoholic drinks and if it was wine nobody would even consider it as an alternative.

A compelling argument.

There is a wealth of alcohol free drinks to choose from so why settle for a poor imitation of an inferior product?

Each to their own I suppose.

Perhaps because you like it better than you like other alcohol free drinks?

Keep am eye on the sugar content of some AF beers. Some have a higher content than full fat Coke, especially Brewdog.

Coincidently, this stuff is low sugar and very very good.

No relation.

This website sells that Pistonhead alcohol free beer (i like it) as well as a couple of others...

https://shop.proofdrinks.com/collections/non-alcoh...

I've tried the Heineken and Budweiser zero stuff and they're pretty good tbh.

Went to a bar that sold only Belgian beers and there was a really nice on there, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called...maybe it wasnt alcohol free after all hehe

Beck’s Blue is our go to. Got onto it via the FIL who was having treatment, so we now always keep half a dozen chilled and ready to go.

I drink a lot of them but I dont mind Heineken, Leffe and Erdinger. If you go to Holland they have loads and my favourite was Palm Zero - I've never seen it in the UK though!

Moretti is the best one I've tried so far.

I don't mind the Peroni one but it can give me a headache for some reason.

These are all briliant. Hard to tell it's not the real thing. Highly recommended.

for me these ones are firmly in the 'old school' of alcohol free beers. I believe there have been a lot of new entrants to the market in the time since they were the only offering.

Hadn't thought of this, thanks for the pointer.

In other news, one of our locals does Adnams Ghost Ship 0.5%. It's really rather good.

THe best one for me is Aldi's Rheinbacher 0%.-

Calories: 76 (per 330ml bottle)
Carbohydrates: 17g (per 330ml bottle)
Sugar: 5.8g (per 330ml bottle)

Not too bad overall I don't think and good for a Sunday when I have to drive home.

This was the first zero beer that I enjoyed.

I now prefer St Peters Without.

I like the Ghost Ship but not the St Peter’s Without (although I do like some of their other beers).

Brooklyn Special Effects is decent too.

The Hoegaarden 0,0 is nice, but has plenty of sugar (and apple pulp) in it so is 90 cals per can, so not worth the effort as a healthy alternative.
