Good romantic restaurant in London

Gautier Soho is a paticular favourite of mine at the moment and great for an intimate meal

+1 Two fantastic meals here - great friendly service too. AND don't forget to visit their Gelato house opposite afterwards. Superb ice cream, sorbets and Italian coffee.


Re Clos Maggiore - recent bad experience here, plus heard multiple comments about where you get a table. inside the courtyard - table, view, serving experience is great.

Not in the courtyard - rubbish.

I would still go if I were you - it's lovely.

But have been to RHR twice with the other half and she loves it. Felt very welcoming, the food was great and the staff were beyond reproach.

Bleeding Heart restaurant has previously won some award as 'most romantic' restaurant or similar - nice food and not too expensive either.

Andrew Edmunds on Lexington St, soho.

Can't recommend it highly enough. Traditional British fare, just smarter. Tiny little restaurant, maybe 15-20 tables. hand written menus that change daily and a very reasonable wine list. Candles on the table etc.

I'll actually contribute to this but Launceston Place is incredibly intimate and the food is lovely if that's what you're after.

Only time I've ever been has been with an old mukka. There's no way I can therefore ever see it as romantic

I logged to say Wild Honey - already been suggested so I'll second that opinion!

Not ostentatious - definitely about the food and wine rather than just a place to show off.
Their sister restaurant is lovely too - Arbutus on Soho Square, slightly cheaper but probably not as romantic.

Another current favourite of mine is Launceston Palace in Kensington. Slightly more high-dining but not pretentious. Great staff, very friendly sommelier who has always hit the spot for me. Lunch menu in particular is great value.

If you want romantice, why not try Ting in the Shard. Not the best of the best by any means but reasonably priced especially when you factor in the price of going up the Shard, and a perfectly nice place to while a few hours away whilst eating and drinking. Make sure you tell them its a special occasion as not all tables are on the edge.
