The other thing that bugs me is when you order king prawns and the s**t sacks haven't been taken out of them, hanging.
I take it you do not eat small prawns either then (like you get in a prawn cocktail)... nor mussels... nor scallops... nor clams... not whelks... nor whitebait... nor oysters... etcVi16v said:
mcdonalds with gherkins on, surely 99% of people remove them? , spicy food, why does everything have to be made hot now. Greggs charging 20% vat to eat a bloody sausage roll indoors, caged hens eggs. Christ i better stop now.
It's not Greggs fault you have to pay VAT on hot food to eat on the premises.A new one for me; new hipster coffee shop opened up in the city, they roast their own beans and really seem to be interested in coffee they produce (all very good as I love coffee). I've been two days in a row. Both days, my coffee has been served to me on the table with it all having dripped down the side of the cup and a little puddle floating in the saucer. I may be weird here but this just puts me off, you end up drinking from a sticky cup with coffee dripping down the bottom (until you clean it of course). Considering this is a premium place, it's like going to fancy restaurant and your pasta bring served to you with half the sauce dripping out the plate.

i don't know anyone who doesn't like the pickles. as for spicu food. pah! about a decade ago whenever I'd buy some hot wings (fried chicken) from a small place they were actually hot! nowadays they have no heat to them whatsoever. THe only thing SOME places might do is a chicken burger and a 'sizzler' burger. the really lazy sods will just put chili sauce in your burger and say that's what the sizzler is. the ones who make an effort will put chilies in the spice blend and actually make it hot. ambuletz said:

Is heat being toned down or are palates getting used to it?
I saw an article ( some years ago now, so don't look at the bottom of the post for a reference link) saying the reason nobody buys mild cheddar any more is because we all eat hot food and our palates are becoming more accustomed to powerful flavours.
I think they spciically said something about Curries, but can't be sure.

Salad sodding garnish.
Our local Indian takeaway is excellent. Not cheap, but always tasty food, well spiced, correct level of heat, plenty of correct vegetables in the curries. They do, however, send a small nappy sack filled with sweaty salad with every order. It never gets opened and goes straight in the bin. I don't order a curry to be healthy and I can't imagine a use for a small plastic bag of wilted leaves and raw onion when I'm eating a mountain of glorious curry. I feel like telling them not to bother when I order, but I imagine it would fall on deaf ears.Trabi601 said:

It's not Greggs fault you have to pay VAT on hot food to eat on the premises. However Greggs sausage rolls are not hot, they are just freshly cooked. If they were hot you would pay VAT when you took them away, but if they just happen to be hot because they have just come out of the oven then you don't.
One thing that bugs me is the ridiculous ways some chippys/kebab shops cut their salad. They'll chop up their cabbage, lettuce and onions all properly but when it comes to a tomato they'll give you one that's only cut in half, or if it's a cucumber they'll give you 1 piece that's cut into a really long wedge.
