Stereo and Mono are both good, Mono has a vegan pizza crunch laugh.

The chef at Bloc is getting really into vegan cooking and they're adding more stuff all the time. They do a vegan cooked breakfast with a vegan black pudding of his own design, I've not had a chance to try it yet but it's on my list.

The Hug and Pint on Great Western Road do good Asian food.

Kind Crusts is a vegan bakery in Dennistoun that does sandwiches, donuts, sausage rolls and their own version of the steak bake.

Pizza Punks will do a vegan pizza.
All that suggests that veganism is a farce. If vegan food is so great, why spend so much time making it taste like proper food?

A lot of vegans don't eat meat for ethical reasons rather than not liking the taste. There's nothing wrong with eating something that's like meat but isn't.

There are many good reasons for not stuffing your face with piles of cheap factory farmed animal products.

This annoys me too, as sometimes I fancy a change.

Anything Middle Eastern / Indian vegetarian would capture my interest, but it's always the same old boring butternut squash soup and gopping goat's cheese tart.
Or - horrors - butternut squash and goat's cheese lasagna.

It's not actually disgusting but it's weird, unappetising, horrible derisory nod at a meat-free meal.

The proliferation of Lebanese restaurants up here in Manchester has improved prospects locally a ton. lick

I suppose this is more of a flavour / texture thing, but "crushed potatoes" do my head in.

AISI, it's a chef that i) can't be bothered to peel the potatoes ii) can't be bothered to form a nice, unctuous, buttery mash and iii) tries to palm it off as something cool and different,

my most annoying one is..
- places that say (i.e wagamama) the food will not arrive all at the same time but when it's done.
I just won't eat there anymore. I mean, it's not rocket surgery. I assume they've cooked the dishes before. 2 people order different dishes. From past experience , they know dish A takes 15 mins and dish B takes 10. Here's what you do. It's quite complicated but if you work at Wagamama, try and grasp it.

If you take the time of the quickest dish (dish B-10) from the time of the slowest dish (dish A-15) you are left with a number (in this case 5). Now, that's what we call the difference. Now put the slowest dish on to cook, and wait for that difference in time, before putting on the quickest dish. Then as if by magic, you will find they are both ready at the same time. Genius eh? The power of maths.

Breakfasts - baked beans have no place here and certainly not next to a fried egg.
I have never understood this. What is the issue? I hardly ever see a fry up advertised without them
Chips with breakfast is plain wrong, beans not.

indeed, chips are wrong. for some reason many people hate the idea of their baked beans touching anything on their plate. I couldn't care less. but whever I've had a fry up it's always been served seperately in a small ramekin instead of poured on the plate.

Beans in a ramekin is so, so wrong. It's just pretentious twaddle used by cooks who like to think they're chefs.

Oo, haven't tried them. Bakchich and Jasmine for me. Jasmine do a moussaka thing, unlike Greek moussaka there's no lentils and no cheesy/creamy element, it's just layers of roasted aubergine, peppers, tomato, onions in this fantastically tasty sauce… that over Arabic rice is the dog's whatsits. That and the burghul/halloumi dish from Bakchich really is the business.

Restaurants that serve bread with butter that's straight out the fridge, so won't spread. Such a basic thing but amazing how many places don't think of this.

Isn't that normal for a vegan?

Grow up.

Not having any decent veggie/vegan options is the mark of a lazy chef. It's really not that hard.
