My kids (17 and 20) still eat that st.

Love making a massive mac cheese though with strong cheddar, mustard powder and chilli flakes. Topped with Parmesan and baked in the oven, awesome.

For variation...

Pour a tin of cherry tomatoes into the base.
and/or
Crush a couple of cloves or garlic, mix with a little oil and smear around the pot before adding the other ingredients
and/or
Top with olives/anchovies
and/or
Take a small cauliflower, cut off the florets. Steam briefly or blanch, then stir into to mac&cheese. It's like a stealth vegetable.

Off the top of my head I can think of three places nearby that only do mac'n'cheese, and cover every variation and flavour you could want or think of (lobster mac'n'cheese anyone?).

My wife has a American friend with triplets.

They are Paisley, Mac and........... I cannot for the life of me remember the third triplet is called Kathryn. I have on one occasion called the little darling "cheese"

I think I got away with it

27th of december, every year, use up the last of the cheese board to make macaroni cheese ( mac 'n cheese???? - fk off, )

its about the variety of cheeses and it all goes in.

our record is 16 different cheeses ( white stilton with cranberry was a brave decision) and it is bloody lovely.

Even a standard Macaroni cheese has at least 5 cheeses in;

medium cheddar
strong cheddar
parmesan
edam / babybel
Dairylea
(i have 2 under 5s so 'cheese' is a loose term)

chuck in some crispy bacon, serve with branston pickle and hot sausage rolls.

yummers.

This. In spades. I thought this thread was about Big Macs and cheese or something until I got about 4 posts down.

And to add to the thread, there's a little place we go to lunch once a month or so, they do burgers with a choice of two sides.

So for me, it's a burger, with a side of chips... and a side of macaroni cheese. Yum yum.
