I've got the Porsche experience coming in April and I'm driving down with the wife (who will be doing the experience) and the kids. We are driving down the day before and stopping over at the premier inn at Silverstone but would like something decent to eat in the evening other than what is offered in the pub tied to the premier inn.

Anyone got any recommendations?

Cheers
Paul

I took my family to the PEC and also stayed at the Premier Inn Silverstone...This was back in 2012/13 and we had an evening meal at the pub adjoining the hotel and the food back then at least was excellent..

Smoke shake in Stoney Stratford if you're not looking for something too fancy. I've been a couple of times and thought it was good, although on trip adviser it's only got 3.5 stars now! sure it used it be higher

if you're happy to drive 15mins or so then totally recommend The Old Thatched Inn at Adstock just south of Buckingham -lovely old pub, brilliant food and not stupidly priced.

www.theoldthatchedinn.co.uk/

gets 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor too so not just me who thinks its good.

OP what would you class as "decent" / what is wrong with the Green Man / what is it that you are looking for? Fine dining? A particular cuisine? Something else?

You've got suggestions on here ranging from a slightly posher version of McDonalds to a fine dining hotel restaurant. It's difficult to know what to suggest without a bit more info.

There are several good pubs in Towcester. The stables does a good meal, but is more of a sports bar, The Folly is a proper foodie place, but you'll need to book in advance, but it is very good, loads of pubs and restaurants along the high st in Stoney Stratford. There is a good curry house on the main road through Towcester too. Plenty of choice close by.

It's a fair question. I've stayed at a few premier inns and usually the food offered in the adjoining pubs is at best average and comparable to the two meals for a tenner that you find in a lot of chain owned pubs. Not looking for fine dining as I will have my teenage kids with me but we like to eat well. We will have driven for a few hours so it would be nice to sit down and have something decent. That said the convenience of being able to have a few beers is swinging heavily in the Green Mans favour.
