I have one of the Ninja's I picked it up during Amazon prime. So far i've cooked roast potatoes - not too bad, chips, and some more chips. I do need to get more adventurous with it though

After I had to bin my Power Air Fryer, opted for a Ninja Foodie

Amazing piece of kit, does everything. Pressure cooking is a whole new world to me!

Doubt it will last 3 + years though

There is a youtuber in Canada who lives in a van and in pretty much every video cooks something in his Ninja Foodi. It looks great

I bought an air fryer last week from Amazon as the price dropped and I got an price threshold alert from camelcamelcamel (set it so long ago I forgot I had even done it!).

Was meant to show up Sunday but only showed up yesterday. Immediately returned as during the wait I've decided to spend more (over double) and get the large Ninja Foodie. Pressure cooking is a draw as is the larger size- buy cheap buy twice.

I'll see how it goes but i reckon I'll start with roast chicken with chips to get it broken in. bounce

I returned the air fryer, I decided to get a Ninja Foodi instead. It's an air fryer and a pressure cooker together (it has 2 lids)The chips are great. It did some chicken thighs really nicely too. I'm a fan. Really you can get away with using it instead of an oven and a hob - perfect if you live in a small place (or a van). It isn't really that much quicker than an oven or deep frying but it is easier and the results consistent.

Smiler.

It's a fabulous tool.

Looking at getting the Ninja Foodi 6L. Seems to offer both air frying and pressure cooking in one unit. Not sure how often I’ll use it though!

Any good resources for recipes and tips?

Im still fancying getting one of these, or the Instant Pot with both ids being removable..

I never like the idea of putting the oven on just for a tray of oven chips, seems a waste of heat and energy for such a small amount of food. Would you say these Ninjas use less energy than a traditional electric oven?

Air fryer is just a mini fan assisted oven isn't it? So are the results any different?

Watching this. They seem to be the in thing but when I looked into it I really couldn't see what it did that an oven doesn't.

I'm exactly the same. When they first became a 'thing', I saw things like Tefal ActiFry where you dropped in a teaspoon of oil and it seemed to circulate it and was a healthier way to 'fry' things.

But when I researched over Christmas, they literally seem to be a miniature oven and not much else, so I decided to pass!

I love my Ninja, the benefit of these gadgets is that they get up to temperature in 2 mins and cook in half the time, they also seem to cook everything more evenly.

Oven chips in an oven and an air fryer are worlds apart.

So for me it's the convenience and energy saving that are the main benefit

I ended up buying an InstantPot Duo last month, came with a regular pressure cooker lid plus an air fryer lid.

I’d say it’s pretty decent for the money. Gets up to temp quicker than a regular electric oven and cooks stuff quicker too. Did a whole chicken in it as a test, pressure cooked it for around 15 mins then air fried it 15 mins. Came out spot on with minimal effort.

Agree, because it's smaller will get up to temp quicker and cost less to run. When air fryer's came along, the marketing bods did an excellent job of branding it as a 'fryer' as at the time health/heart issues etc were all the rage so anything healthy sold loads. Makes sense if you have the space and long term savings.

I instead bought a deep fat fryer and use it out in the garden so the oil smells don't linger inside. No pain no gain biggrin

I now have an Instant Pot Pro Crisp and the air fry mode is exactly that, just an oven. But you dont have to wait as long as an oven for it to heat up, and you're only having to heat a smaller space. I now feel Im wasting heat/energy if I use the oven for something that my Instant Pot can cook. Add the fact it's also a pressure cooker, steamer, slow cooker....

Whilst I do make chips in the Instant Pot, I do still sometimes cook them in my deep fat fryer
