North West roasters:

Lost Barn
Mancoco
Burtonwood Coffee

These are my go to, Burtonwood Control Tower seems to be my default though.

Any recommendations for general everyday beans to be used in a superauto? Currently we use the Asda extra special stuff at £5.50 for 2 bags of 227g each however the local Asda don’t seem to have it in stock at times
This stuff got a recommendation or two in one of the coffee threads £11 / Kg - I'm yet to try it, so can't comment.

I've been buying the Italian blend from these guys for almost 4 years now via their Ebay site and I never tire of it.

https://hormozi.co.uk/

Reliable, always roasted within 3-4 days of receipt and £11 for a kilo bag delivered. Really cannot fault it as an everday strong Italian style coffee that never disappoints.

I have a Sage Barista Express and each fresh bag is pretty much on the button every time so rarely do I need to re dial it in

I thought this was very average.

Using Horsham Coffee roasters currently….

Good range, very good single origins that they offer a recipe for each varietal, and sensible pricing.

Seem to be very ethical about the buying of beans as well.

Tried a few different ones, but for us the best flavour was Sainsbury’s own espresso beans. About £11 a bag.

Has anyone given the Grind coffee a go yet? Seems to be the rave at the moment but expensive.

I use this coffee and rather like it.... I occasionally try other beans, but generally revert to Lofbergs of one type or another.

I once made the schoolboy error of buying my wife some coffee from Fortnum & Mason - King's Blend.
https://www.fortnumandmason.com/kings-blend-ground...

I now have to buy industrial quantities at an eye-watering price, as she won't willingly drink anything else. To be fair, it is rather delicious.

It is a bit cheaper if you buy it in the kilo bags (£45 a kilo, IIRC). They will grind it in store.

It's good, not world beating. About on-par with union for me.

You are having your pants pulled down there.

Judging by the taste notes you could easily get the same flavour with a Santos region bean and an organic Peru bean. I'm currently blending these two beans to produce a wonderful chocolaty hazelnut flavour the flavour even comes through with a 32ml pure espresso.
I'm currently buying these two beans from a seller on e-bay for £11 per kilo each. Having said that the price is for green beans that I roast in my home roaster.

Would you mind linking to the seller?

Yes, it does get my wife a bit frisky when I buy it for her.

They trade as lalicocoffee.co.uk The beans I have bought from them are Brazil Santos Stockler NY2/3 Screen17/18 SS FC Sweet Cup and Peru Organic Fairtrade Green/Raw Arabica Coffee Beans For Home Roasting SCA 86.
Just to add I have only bought green beans that I roast on a slow medium setting which I believe is exactly what the grower recommends. Remember green beans are a lot cheaper than roasted.
This company also sell roasters (quite pricey and not for the home roaster really) I have not bought ready roasted beans from them but assume as they sell roasters they know what they are doing.
For the record I have bought green beans from all over the world the Blue Mountain green beans I bought were £100 per kilo and were okay. But I always go back to Santos region beans and the fair trade organic Peru beans which I've been buying for well over two years with no fluctuation in quality

Cheers for the bulk recommendations folks. Will have a try of a few and report back. I like the idea of roasting my own beans but I fear it’s a step too far
