Fego as in the one also in Cobham?

I imagine they’ll be using significantly better ingredients than spoons.
Yes, the same chain as the one in Cobham.

You imagine? - have you had Eggs Benedict in Fego recently?

Muffin - I doubt Fego would source from an artisan bakery
Eggs - yes, maybe Fego would have free range
Ham - Fego use ordinary sliced ham from a packet
Hollandaise - I very much doubt it's freshly made on demand, it certainly didn't taste like that

I do wish I'd photographed it as I don't think you'd be able to spot the difference. The key thing is that the quality of the meal, and value for money in 'spoons was far greater. To compare another recent experience of that dish I'd say that the Leyland Lion offering was on a level with the Bluebird as well.

We ate in that pub a few times over the weekend and some dishes were, as you'd expect the bare minimum for the price. However, you can eat well for little money if you're selective, which is the point to me.

This is your choice, which is fine.

Why are you trying to force your choices on other people? Their choices are just as valid.
Even the fans of spoons are struggling to defend the battered dildo up the page, just puzzling is all.

I’m flying a couple of times next week, I’ll see if I can get a better looking breakfast out of Gatwick/Heathrow outlets wink
Make sure we get a picture of the receipt so we compare like with like.

I don’t tend to eat in pubs like that, if they bother to do food at all.

Maybe that is the difference, I tend to separate places good for drinks from those good for food - they do tend to be a different kind of place.

There’s a few that manage both though, Canton Arms is one, hope and anchor in Waterloo, eagle in Farringdon.
The Hope and Anchor in Waterloo- more specifically, the one on The Cut that's listed in the Michelin guide? The last time I went there I sat next to Jade Jagger. Only on Pistonheads would someone list any/all of the Canton Arms, The Hope and Anchor or the Eagle as examples of grotty pubs.

I didn’t.

I said they were good pubs for booze and food. Quite rare in that respect.

Not rare in the slightest, it all depends on personal opinion.

Indeed.

Did you think pictures of spoons lunches would be somehow exciting?

Not quite comparable to spoons is it.

Fish and chips comes in at £33 and a pint is £7.80

I genuinely get the point that people make when they say spoons isn't comparable to that kinda placebut no one is suggesting it is.

If you want a reasonable burger with a pint. Or a decent enough breakfast for less than a tenner I just don't see the issue with the place.

Caley Picturehouse on Lothian Road. Interesting building and across from a Bewdog Pub if you want to spend more on beer.

There's also a massive one off Rose street (I Think) and top of ramp at Waverley Station

Somewhere with some character and individuality? You heathen wink

There’s only one place more identikit and soulless than a spoons and it’s Brewdog, Spoons ftw in that scenario.
