This may have legs, it may not. Inspired by a 'RichTea' (if he's still around).

Seeing as the other photo threads seem to focus on the more 'professional' end of dining, I was wondering if there were average (or below average) chefs who would be up for sharing photos of their standard food consumption.

Let me make this clear from the start, I am in no way having a dig at the 'foodies', showing the quality end of the culinary spectrum. It all looks amazing. But some of us can only dream of that sort of fare on a regular basis.

I might, if I remember to have the phone with me to take a photo. I certainly can't take part in any of the other threads, but I do like to look in there from time to time, a sort of "let's have a look at what you could have won" thing.

An excellent idea for a thread.

I love cooking but my O/H has eating disorders that mean she often can't eat or doesn't want to so preparing special dishes for dinner is wasted on her and she gets upset. Instead, every Monday morning I use the slow cooker and the result lasts us for several nights. Today it's a Hairy Bikers' chili con carne, another week it might be boeuf bourguignon, chicken stew; anything that she can heat up whenever she feels 'peckish'.

Here's today's effort just after the slow cooker was loaded, a couple of hours and a good stir later it smells yummy - roll on 6:30!

ETA: and here at 3:00pm, coming along nicely.

Here's tonight's dinner.

Loin of pork, slow roasted with a rub of herbs/spice/garlic/honey with a jacket potato and a sprinkle of cheese.

It's not a massive knife and fork, it's a side plate.

Decent idea for a thread.

Yesterday was a roast chicken dinner, so today waseft over chicken with oven chips and side salad.

No pictures but will try to remember going forward.

The observant will note that was in the beer garden at Spandau...with a few Helles, and a very pleasant blonde German girl in traditional dress waiting on it was a particularly memorable experience beer

That’s a great idea. Photo of the food and then state the restaurant and city. Would be a handy guide when travelling

I perhaps have a different idea of unpretentious to the rest of you.

Tesco "white fish" from the clearance shelf a couple of weeks ago, coupled with a couple of handfuls of Iceland crinkle-cut oven chips and a splodge of Tesco Tartare Sauce. Done in the oven, partly because the fish is too big to go in the air fryer, and partly because I'd bought a part-baked garlic bread stick that needed cooking, and that certainly wouldn't go in the air fryer. Chips could have done with a bit longer, but then the fish would have been over done. Maybe next time I'll break the fish into two and go back to the air fryer.

saladcreme and pickled onion monster munch is top of my list, have it with salt and vinegar sometime or ready salted at a push.

This evening, Tesco / Hearty Food Chicken Curry and rice infused with four small pieces of red chilli to give it a bit more of a kick, and add the element of surprise to each forkful.

Iceland breaded chicken goujons from the clearance shelf, with some Iceland oven chips. Ten minutes in the air fryer, 12 for the chips, chips were better than the other day when they were done in the oven, chicken is probably slightly overdone. Packet said 10 minutes for the whole packet, but I only cooked half of it so I expect that's the problem, I wasn't sure how to drop the time down and they're better being a bit dry than undercooked. Photo a bit blurred due to anticipation.
