Bistro 1 in Frith St. A proper sit down meal in a restaurant that's not so posh that it's intimidating but too nice for the riff raff, with a menu with something for everyone, with food delivered quickly and decent portions, and a starter and main course for about £15-£20 /head.

Came here to post the exact same thing: the cheeseburgers are the perfect mix of burger/cheese/fat/bread/sauce and you could do several with ease.
The other options look good too and all in an interesting space.

There is a similar one near regents street if more convenient in location as well.

https://markethalls.co.uk/venue/oxford-street/

(If malaysian food is your thing the roti canai option there imo is pretty decent)

It's from the same chaps! The Euston one has quite bit of a queue usually....the Oxford st one is a bit more civilised I find.

Thanks all. There’s some truly terrific suggestions here.

We ended up at Honest Burgers off Dean Street, which fit the bill. Two happy boys. Well three.

Earlier in the day we also stopped at Nude roastery in Hambury street E1 - great coffee for me and the kids loved the salted caramel slice. Their treats are first class, like the coffee.

I also took them into the Savoy. There was purpose in that (achieved) but I thought we’d be able to get a drink in one of the bars, but not for non resident kids, apparently. I can understand it, but that makes me less likely to return for business.

My favourite burger chain is Byron Burger. There aren’t many left, mind (but still one in Covent Garden).
