Really?

On what basis?
I assume (Maybe incorrectly) that this is the one. I have yet to find it on the shelfs, but I would love to try it.

Did you look at the video? They do two, one is the standard one which you have purchased and the other is clearly labelled "Fiery Hot".

I really rate the Charlie Bingham ones the Madras is great.
It’s not bad, but I think the Tikka one is better, I just throw chillies and cayenne in before heating to give it a kick. I tried the M&S fiery one and didn’t like the flavour at all, tasted metallic to me. Never tried the Aldi ones but will have a go next time I drop in to buy my wife’s clothes from the middle aisle.

Try the Indian Essence range from Herons, for £2 they are spot on. Bald Foodie Guy reviews the Bhuna one here;

The Balti one is my favourite, not as hot as the Bhuna.

Waitrose ones are OK, but they are all lacking in the meat department despite going from about £4 to over £5.
Not as badly as their Chinese meals though, which are really find the meat and win a prize style.

Really need to try something from the home made curry thread...

Not ready meals, but Home Bargains do some pouches of curry sauce that are excellent for the money. Indi Grand is the brand I believe.

Usually just settle for a Tesco own brand Jalfrezi, which is inconsistent but ok. Was on holiday last year in North Wales and whilst browsing in Tesco found this little beauty, it was flavoursome, hot and unfortunately not available near where I live in Hertfordshire.

I’ve tried the Aldi offerings based on previous discussions, it’s ok but no better than any of the others.

There isn’t a M&S nearby but I switch between the others and find them very similar.

The portions of the combined curry and rice are tiny now. I’ve got a 5 year old boy who will eat an entire portion and I need the snacks and bread to feel full.

Agreed.

I don't buy these at full price, but they're often in a Too Good To Go bag.

Recent beef in black bean sauce was mostly sauce, and the actual 'beef' content woolly and stale-tasting.

A few years ago our company brought in a load of Indian contractors to do some software development and seated them on our floor.
Every lunchtime they'd congregate round the microwave and we'd be treated to these amazing smells of various types of curry being heated up.
I thought it would be cool to get chatting to them and see if i could get a taste of some authentic Indian food, maybe some recipes.
Walked round one day just as they were meeting and they were all unwrapping Iceland £1 curries.

I'm not sure I can bring myself to mention in this thread that most of the curries I have are either the Tesco "Hearty Food" 85p ones, or sometimes a more upmarket Tesco one if it's on the clearance. Because of that, I don't really know which ones I've tried, but as it's so long since I've been to an Indian restaurant and had an actual one, I haven't got much point of comparison. The Tesco cheapo one is made better by adding a few pieces of chilli during the cooking interval, which also applies to their Mac and Cheese.

Thats the one, probably the only supermarket curry I don't have to add anything to.

As no one has mentioned they have to be microwavable, none of the other supermarkets come close to Iceland. Only found that out after my second back operation when I needed two weeks of frozen meals in advance (8 nights in hospital meant fresh and microwave meals were a non starter).

TBH both Aldi and Lidl curries are average and now not even much cheaper (if at all) from the other supermarkets.

Can I put forward this from Asda?

It was excellent, better than many I've had from a restaurant.

In the alternative you could make a curry yourself or go out with friends / partner for a few drinks and a curry. I stopped eating ready made meals years ago as they made me feel bloated.

Waitrose do a good jalfreze in my view . My wife had a pasanda and said it was very good . We then did it again about 3 weeks later and mine was really disappointing. So I think inconsistent.
Nans are good as well although a lot smaller than they used to be irked.
People shrink as they get older and you are much bigger now as an adult so Nans just seem smaller.

The Chicken Biryani from the same range is also superb.

Prompted absolutely by this thread . In Sainsbury's and bought thier own brand Hot Tikka Masala and Bombay Potato as a side . At home cooked our own rice and really loved it. Great flavour, good chicken and nice background heat with a fair bit of heat towards the end .
Quality has moved on miles on these things I think .

I might lob a couple of those in the freezer, handy when you are coming in from the pub,.
