Just back from a few days away in the Cotswolds. Sampled a lot of lovely beer, not all of it local, but we did take in a visit to the Hook Norton Brewery. The tour was the best £9.50 I've spent in ages and it included sampling all their beers at the end too!!

2 miles from me! Did you try any Donnington BB or SBA?

We didn't find any Donnington beers for sale. Do they sell anywhere other than their own pubs? We were staying in Oddington.

They probably do only sell in their pubs. Did you stay at the Fox?

We stayed at Blackpits Farm. Down a track almost opposite the VW garage.

This is one I tried the other day. Very bitter after taste, probably not for everyone's palate.

We had a works do last night and they had Red Squirrel RSX on at the hotel, which was a rather lovely tipple.

It's the first beer festival of the year at my local, and tonight my first tipple of choice was this:

I stayed with it for the rest of the evening, enjoying its bitter chocolate and complimentary faint damson notes. Bloody lovely.

I'm normally a pale drinker, but i've recently developed 'a thing' for stouts. There was a good article on in the Guardian last weekend about the recent rise in popularity of stout if you are similarly inclined.

Went to the Bury St Edmunds beer festival the other day. One really pleasant ale was from the Tydd Steam Brewery called Dr Foxe's Cunning Linctus.

Anyone going to the CAMRA Reading beer festival this coming weekend?

I'll be there all day Friday playing the alphabet game a half a pint per letter beer name or brewery name. It's a lot of fun and forces you to try lots of different ones rather than finding a nice one or area of the marque.

Couldn't resist - it was genuinely very nice though, tangy and refreshing. I'm a fiend for wheat beers though.

I've done that earls court and Olympia. But Reading beer festival is much bigger it's the biggest in the uK. Next to the mainline station so 23mins to padington.

I'll be there with a PH tshirt on

I hope to be there on Friday afternoon, enjoying the fruits of my labour (building the scaffolding and carrying in all the beer last weekend!)
