Another case of using up some things and some reduced items... Missus wanted a takeaway curry (circa £35) Chicken & cauliflower curry (hot and sour), Aubergine & chickpea dahl, and mint infused rice Presentation again is weak... But in my favour I was bloody starving. Whole meal should cost up as about a fiver per person and there's another serving each left yet (so really around £2.50 per serving!)

Mobile Chicane said: I'll pass on the gluggy sauce and have what your mate's having The griddled courgettes look good too. That was about 4 cuts of meat, and he was a happy bunny, along with the other bloke who had the same with that choice, which had a bit of rosemary and oil. Mine was meant to have some Balsamic sauce of some sort, as I figured it was local to the area, but it ended up with the pepper sauce. I love Bearnaise sauce, and with a nice bit of meat and chips, and I'll have that as my last meal if I was on death row! The courgettes where very good! Sliced very thin, and had a crunch after being cooked.

Boring afternoon - so I thought id visit the Butchers and put the BBQ on. Thought id try my first homemade burgers so I also picked up a cheap burger press from a shop in town. I looked at loads of recipes, but with most things they all sounded too fussy. In the end I used mince, egg, cracker crumbs, caramelised red onion and ketchup (mix was a little dry) I also wanted to try one of the behemoth burgers which popped up the other day in this thread (stuffed with cheese and wrapped in streaky bacon!) So here we are - The Megaburger! 426g or 15oz in english! A standard double burger (Burgers were about 5oz each) The Megaburger sitting for 10mins Money shot (Need more cheese next time! When I finished cooking the burgers I seasoned these bad boys up and stuck these onto slow cook with some woodchips - will be done in time for dinner! They've still got a while to go but they are looking good!! I didnt use a dry rub this time, I mixed up a BBQ and honey marinade - I also had some left over onion from the burgers so I just chucked on top a little while ago.

Bonus points for having plastic processed cheese slices in the burger. Not a proper burger without them.

I should really start taking photos of my dinner....just polished off roasted pork belly strips with a (wait for it) home made liver risotto. Liver is not to everyones taste, but it added a lot of flavour to it.
The pork was cooked with a little cider in the bottom of the tray and a bit of garlic, added a nice taste to the pork...soo full now though!

This evening's effort, very rare I cook anything myself hence I've not contributed sooner:- Seafood Paella BBQ Chicken Breast Bake at home baguette Total cost of the meal approximately £1.85 As you may have gathered, most of it's from the freezer, the Paella is a Morrison's stir fry bag (£1), the chicken is probably the worst bit of the meal from Iceland (50p), and the baguette was about 35p. I'm not much of a cook, but I'm ace at heating things up P.S. Coke Zero to drink in a cut crystal glass, adds a touch of class I feel

I've never "got" fish pie. It's nice enough, but fish is so expensive these days that it seems a bit of a waste.

You can use cheap frozen fish and it will taste fab when done in a pie, when it would be pretty much inedible as fish served on its own. And that pie would easily serve 4... it only cost me about £4 to make.
