Ahh, well done.

I've never even tried Southern Comfort before! Is it bourbon I take it?

Not mine, but I went to a whisky bar while I was in Finland. A choice of over 360 single malts and some local ales. Not cheap, but a great place to drink and they really knew their stuff. I was on the Cardhu wink
12yo Cardhu? it's amazing stuff! I bet it was expensive! Never been to finland but I'm assuming it's like Norway - any imported booze is horrendous there. How about £12 for a glass of bog basic glenmorangie!
Finland's not as bad as Norway, Sweden and Denmark. In fact i'd say prices are pretty much the same as they are over here (on drinks other than imported single malts). The prices of the whisky were pretty reasonable actually, I was paying about 7 euros for a 12 year old Cardhu. It's in one of the suburbs of Helsinki so the prices are sensible, you'd only know it's there if you went out intentionally to find it or knew a local who told you about it. Cheapest whiskys were about 3 euros for a single, then at the upper end of the scale you could pay 110 euros for a single dram! Then there were the even more expensive ones which weren't on the menu smile

Aye that's not bad at all. I love Cardhu and, in fact, my bottle is getting low so will need to be replaced soon...

Most I've ever paid for a glass of whisky in a bar or restaurant is about £15. Most I've paid for a bottle in a shop is about £230. And that was actually from my missus as a present on our honeymoon. I'm not sure I'll ever get to the point where I want to spend thousands on one bottle of booze.

My problem is that I buy to taste and drink, not to store and invest.

I ended up buying 4 bottles of 21yo portwood balvenie (with the intention of saving at least one) and I've just opened that last one. It's too damn good!

In fact, I'm leaving work early today because I'm giving my mate a lift to the airport. So i think I may take a small detour on my home home via Huntly...

Bog standard highland with a little bit of peat. Nothing special imho.

Nice display smile

Main problem here in Finland is the limited selection in the state-run Alko stores (the only place you can buy the stuff). They will order if requested but half of the fun is browsing and occasionally tasting. I like the shop in Stansted airport for that purpose. It's almost worth jumping on a Ryanair flight just to go single malt shopping and come straight back...

Good shout. The wife is the pastry chef there and the whisky tastings are a good night out. Six whiskys and a meal can't be bad for the ticket price.

Oh my word. And I'm staying in Ramsbottom for a course in Bury at the end of this month. Nice find.

Damn middle shelf isn't quite high enough! Bo**ocks!

How do you decide what goes at the front and what goes at the back?

I had a similar problem in my old flat (when I only had about 15 bottles) and it pi$$ed me off that I couldn't see them all or had to move bottles to get at others!

You need a bigger cabinet mate!
