Ardbeg 10 is an interesting one I think. I think if you're going to like a complex and strong flavoured brand like Ardbeg, you're going to want the main event, which for me is everything but the 10 year old. I would never turn it down don't get me wrong, and I'd choose it over many things, but it's a gateway drug I think smile
I'll see how I get on with the 10. I wanted to try the 77 but at nearly £50 for a miniature, it's a bit pricey for me at the moment. smile

I will try different Ardbeg's in due course. smile

great little selection there...

Ardbeg 10 is my regular, stumbled across it in a b&b we were staying in.
Went down rather well after a rafting session in North Wales!

The Corryvreckan was on my must try list and was a good price in the duty free.

I am sure you will have a great time getting through your selections
Thanks. smile

Was in Sainsbury's tonight and took a quick look down the alcohol aisle at the whisky section. Already noticing certain brands. smile

Good man. I wasn't really meaning the crazy expensive stuff. The 10 year old I think can be had for about £40 a 75cl bottle, but the more interesting expressions (IMHO) are probably about a tenner more or so. They tend to appreciate too, a bottle of alligator I bought for about £60 is now worth a lot more, although of course I had opened it.

I can't work out if they're miniatures, or if you've accidentally got some tilt shift on your camera.

Miniatures for now to get me started. Doing some tasting this weekend and will order bigger bottles of the stuff I like.

Only tried the Dalwhinnie out of that lot and I like it a lot (I bought a miniature too!) - it's regularly on offer for sub £25 in the supermarkets!

The Whisky Exchange.

Ordered a bottle of Chocolate Liquor for my mum for her day on Sunday too. Paid about £10 extra for swift delivery and they were here before 10 this morning. smile

Might pick up a bottle of Glengoyne 12 year old tomorrow, as I noticed it was new in Waitrose. Anybody know anything about it? smile

Completely unpeated (unusual in the highlands), this Glengoyne is soft,
fruity and very quaffable. A fine single malt!

A 12yo Highlander from Glengoyne, famed for their unpeated single
malt.Glengoyne is always very pure in style, allowing their
high-quality, easy-drinking whisky to shine in its natural state.

Only ever had the 17, which was on offer in Duty Free. Quite a soft, easy drinking dram - a bit like Tomintoul is.

Big fan of TWE.

If you're a Quidco user, they also pay out.

How are you getting on with your selection? (I must admit, at first glance, I thought you'd gone and bought a bunch of full sized bottles!)

I've just finished off my Highland Park 12 Yr Old. Rather a pleasant whisky.

Haven't opened them yet. Been out tonight and just got back so will try them tomorrow evening.

I have noticed something interesting. As I don't drink any other alcohol, people have been startled by the fact that I want to try whisky. I don't want to drink it to get sozzled, I'm interested in the flavours and texture. I even got asked what my mixer will be smile.

I guess it's a sign of the times that some people think drink is just to get drunk.
