Lovely! How does it compare to the other Ardbeg expressions you've had?

In other news opened a bottle of Ardmore over the weekend. Nice enough to pay them a visit when we're up that way over Easter.

Ardmore is 4 miles from my house! Drop me a line when you're up here and we can maybe grab a dram.

Supernova is lovely, very earthy. Corryvreckan is still my ultimate 'beg though...

Looks great. Do you have any water with yours or do you take it neat?

It depends on the dram to be honest, I have about 20% water in this one and it feels "right".

I had some of this tonight for the first time:

Has quite a hint if iodine/tcp and is a bit smoky. Surprisingly though, I quite enjoyed it. At 46% it's the strongest I've had so caught the back of my throat. Had some water with it though. smile

How odd. I was having a root through the whisky cupboard a couple of nights ago and had a dram of SN10 too.

I'm really starting to get back into whiskys again after not really drinking much for around 6 months.

My girlfriend picked up a bottle of Aberfeldy 21 from Duty Free along with Glenmorangie Signet. There is only half a bottle of the Aber left. Highly recommendend.

Now there's a coincidence! Might just do that, thanks for the offer!

Laphroaig PX this evening. Going down very smoothly with a drop of water.

If anyone is looking for a whisky weekend away, the German Whisky Festival is on the 17th and 18th of May in Limburg.

I received Jura origin and superstition, and Balvenie carribean cask for my birthday. The origin I've had before but the other two are new to me.

I opened up the superstition last night. I wasn't sure at first but after a few sips I was sold. Carribean cask tonight. I've been wanting this for a while so hopefully won't be disappointed.

Cracked open the Ardbeg 10 tonight. Wow, smoky as hell. smile

I thought the Ledaig was smoky, but the Ardbeg smells like there has been a fire in the bottle. Quite a distinctive taste and something I've never tried before.

Cannot post a pic, but have just taken in a small order of the following:

Powers John's Lane Release 12 Year Old Single Pot Still

http://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/powers-12yo-p...

Two bottles of Bowmore 10 Year Old Tempest - Batch 3

http://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/bowmore/bowmo...

And with the warm weather beckoning, I thought I'd give this a whirl:

http://www.masterofmalt.com/gin/portobello-road-no...

First time I've used this supplier (from memory) excellent service. I normally use TWE , but this same order with them would have been £17 more, not to be sniffed at.

I've been looking at trying a Pot still Irish whiskey for some time now, so will definitely happen now that I have what is apparently a very good expression in the stash. Has anyone tried it?

The Bowmore Tempest is a cracking dram , I tried it last year , and immediately bought another bottle , decided to get a couple more while I still can. I have only tried this expression (third batch) but it sounds like other batches are good as well.

It's a dram I'd highly recomend, if not to buy, then make it a priority to try if seen in a whisky bar. It really is a cracking Bowmore, and to me, is getting very much into Lagavulin 12 territory.

Tim F on the TWE site really enthuses about this dram, and we all know, at times some of these type of notes leave us a little underwhelmed once we have tried whatever has been revieiwed, not in this case though, I'd entirely share his enthusiasm. Brilliant stuff.

Gah! Bloody Amazon,

Had the Murray McDavid bottling of Tobermory 1994 on my wish list for yonks, hovering around £55-60. Even though it's one of my favourite all time whiskies, the fact that the previous 3 bottles had only cost me £25 each meant I could never convince myself to pull the trigger.

Yesterday, it's down to £35, one bottle left. So I ordered it.

Today, an email from the supplier (not Amazon, but "fulfilled by Amazon") saying "oh sorry, this is out of stock. Do you want something else?"

bds!

So yeah, if anyone knows where I can get a reasonably priced bottle of the above, it would be much appreciated. And yes, it has to be that specific bottling. It's just magical for some reason, and hits all the right notes on my palate.

Tried the Ten tonight. Really, really smoky and made me feel a little sick. Also gave me a bit of indigestion.

I either need to try and get used to it, or it just isn't for me.

Some of you mentioned previously that the Ten is probably the worst Ardbeg to try for the first time. I think you are right. smile

Being relatively new to the world of whisky, tried a dash of water to the Deerstalker 18 year old tonight and realised how much of a difference it can make. This is the only dram I've had that I felt needed it after reading comments on here and it really did open up from being a 'punch in the face' dram to something that you could hold under you nose and savour. Just a dash of water though.

I'm the same. A drop of room temperature spring water makes the drink much more bearable for me. Takes the alcohol edge of as I don't drink anything else at all and am not used to it. smile

Still struggled with that Ardbeg though.
