Afternoon chaps. I was thinking of putting some bottles to auction to make way for Glenglassaughs! Anyone here interested first?

NRS, where did you get this and how much please? 1989 is a year with significance for me so it could be good to add to my collection!I can get you a bottle here for the £160 and send it across if you'd like? Not sure what you're happy with regarding price.

nice choices there, what's the Kildalton Cross like, and also what do you think of the Isle of Arran?
I haven't tried the Kildalton yet but it will remain closed until I get a sample. I really like Arran. The one in the picture is the standard Amarone cask bottling and it is one of the best examples of wine finished whisky I have tried. I also rate the 10yo really highly. Arran seems to be overshadowed somewhat by other more well known island distilleries but they produce some cracking bottles at very good prices.

So not quite a whiskey but has anyone tried this? A friend brought a bottle back from the US for me and all I can describe it as is strong!
Very definitely a whiskey, and a great one too. I once drank an entire bottle of it on a First Class flight to Islamabad. I knew I'd have to be dry for two weeks, so got all my drinking in in one go!Enjoy the Talsiker. It was one of my favourite drams so far this year.
I have been enjoying the new Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve over the past couple of evenings. I think it has been added to their core collection by replacing the 10yo. It's not hugely complex, but it is bloody lovely. I'd be interested to know how old the whisky is and how long it has been exposed to sherry butts because it has a big sherry hit.

A friend has just bought a cask there. He went for a sherry cask, and lightly peated. He said the visit was fantastic too.
I'd like to try the new bere barley one that is coming out soon. Don't think it will be too easy to get ahold of it though.
I'd been wondering about getting that to try. There's a whisky festival only a 3 hour boat ride from me in January, so will probably try some there if possible. Really looking forward to it!

It seems to have got a lot of good reviews, just with the price it means it hasn't been too popular.I have been enjoying the new Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve over the past couple of evenings. Just had a dram of my first Jap whisky tonight after my meal, a Yamazaki 18 yr old, wow what a nice drop. Everything I hoped from Scottish whisky and more, think I need to find some bottles of key note bottles to try.
The 18 yo is lovely but the price has risen so much in the past 8 years or so. The 12 yo is absolutely fantasic as is the new Distiller's Reserve. They also do a series called the Cask of Yamazaki which are hard to find but taste great. If you like blended whisky, then Hibiki 17yo is worth a try as is the 21yo. They also do some Coffey Still bottlings which are very nice.

You opening the Devils cask? It's lovely
I'll probably open one. However I have quite a few open bottles that I am now trying to finish before moving onto new bottles, so if the price goes really silly then I may let them both go. My general "plan" is to get 2 bottles of each (investment type) whisky so that the price increase of one of them will mean the second bottle is very cheap/ free. Since I live in Norway the tax system means cheaper bottles are very expensive, and quite often the expensive bottles can be a lot cheaper than elsewhere. It's because there is only a government run shop where you can buy it, and they set the price and don't change it so you avoid any speculation increases. So it also makes sense compared to buying standard releases.Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
