Love the Gkenglassaugh / Jura comment hehe

Joking aside, that's a serious collection. How many do you typically have open at a time? Or are this lot not for drinking?

Guilty - bought very quickly - drunk more slowly. And there is still one Snow Pheonix visible.
Just finished putting this lot up today but it still won't hold everything - odd single bottles from distilleries, plus blends / grains, bourbon and rum. Some other older shelving by the side for these. Where are the anticipated PH cask bottles going ?
Very impressive Mercs ,makes my stash seem anaemic in comparison. Any idea, roughly of the bottle count?

I've stopped building the hoard for the time being, I never drink more than a bottle a month, usually less, so if I keep hoarding , the hoard will still be there when I shuffle off the mortal coil. The thought of the waste appalls me!! biggrin

Has any one tried Glenfarclas 17. Ive just bought a bottle on Amazon from a supplier in Germany, price £51 + plus £10 postage. Everywhere else the bottle is almost £100

Ive Emailed the seller to ensure they've not put the wrong picture and description up and its the 15.

Seems odd to sell a £100 bottle at £50. I had a £50 voucher from British Gas too, so it only cost me the postage!

These arrived today - looking forward to having a taste.

And the people I know think I have loads of whisky... nothing compared to some of you lot though! Plus the middle shelf is mostly not whisky as there's not enough height.

Jim Murray gives it a score of 93 which is pretty good and it sounds delicious. I've just bought one from Amazon too to try. The Glenfarclas 25 has become a favourite of mine so if the 17 is similar it'll be great. In the UK it's also not far off the price of the 25 !

How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking. Master of Malt are charging £99 for the 17.

I found mine for £51 on Amazon.... I don't understand why it was so "cheap". Perhaps Ill find out if it turns up!

£51 on Amazon plus £10 postage. Other sellers have it for £100. Hopefully it's the genuine article.

Everything I have bought has been bought with the intention of drinking - but as stated it was mostly bought quickly over about 5 years. Went from 25 to 150 very quickly. Not even Lefty could get through that lot in his Dram Per Day year.

I have only ever had between 3 and 6 bottles open at once to provide variety - but drinking has been slower in the last two years due health - hopefully improving due to the ongoing diet (4 stone and counting). My reason for only having a few open is the effect of oxidation. Back to Snow Pheonix - I really noticed the effect on a bottle that was open for about 6 weeks. I remember Rollercoaster being very similr. Just finished a Lagavulin distillers that had been open a couple of years - whilst still nice towards the end it was well past it best.

Will I still drink some of them - as many are not duplicates ? Still have a Snow Pheonix, have a spare Teapot Dram (1st batch), Sonalta PX amongst others ? One day - just because I can and they were cheap at the time - maybe. In the meantime just keep them stored well - coolest room all year - low natural light. And enjoy what I do open.

There's a lad I have often seen in the whisky shop - he's up to over 600 bottles.

Some interesting bottles in your cabinet. Love the latest Glendronach.
In terms of the Devils Punch Bowl, when I tried it I was a little disappointed. Maybe didn't help that it was the last dram I had whilst on a special tasting at the distillery.

It's a bit of a mix, some have been gifts, others are for more special nights. I have a very big soft spot for Glendronach, love their stuff. I haven't opened the Devil's Punch Bowl chapter 3, but thought the Chapter 2 was very good.

Currently opened the first of the samples tonight. It's a 7yo Mackmyra (Swedish whisky) called "Hope". Matured in barrels which had cloudberry wine. You can tell it's a young whisky, it's not full settled yet. I'm not very good at descriptions, but dry wine and pine on the nose, taste is a clean with fresh berries and juniper, with the finish being perhaps slightly acidic.

What's your thoughts on the Phenoix Snow? I'm want to add this to my collection.

Snow Pheonix is epic, but it is flying up in price now so grab one while you can before it gets silly IMO

Lovely dram - one of GF's best IMO. Was £60 at launch - seen plenty go for over £200 in auctions.

I concur with Podie. It is a shame I only have two left frown but the last bottle I opened lasted around a week tops.

Anyone got a tin they want to part with? The only one I could find for sale had a bashed up tin. frown
