Just been having a look on the World of Whiskies website and not sure they have any Japanese whiskies anyway!
Going by Island/Islay, it seems I have a choice between Arbeg 10, Ardbeg Uigeadail, Bunnahabhain Cruach-Mhona, Laphroaig PX Cask.
I know the Uigeadail is supposed to be a very good dram, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone has sampled any of the above and how they compare to the Machir Bay or the Bowmore Tempest?
The Ardbeg 10, whilst very good, doesn't really compare to any other Ardbeg. I think they even describe it as entry level at the distillery!Going by Island/Islay, it seems I have a choice between Arbeg 10, Ardbeg Uigeadail, Bunnahabhain Cruach-Mhona, Laphroaig PX Cask.

Tempest is very different to the Ardbegs, I *assume* its very different to the Laphroaig (if its a Laphroiag similar to the 10 etc) and no idea regarding the Bunna. Had a look at the website myself, but only one dram stood out (to me at least) and thats the Talisker 57 North. Still not akin to Tempest, for sure, but a great dram all the same, and a whisky which seems to widely liked acrioss the board. Its a pity they seem to concentrate of daft Dalmore's for thousands of £;'s instead of widening broad choice. Suppose it tells us those huge priced whiskies must sell well.
P/s if your friend likes Tempest, she may want to try Lagavulin 12 if she gets opportunity.
Ended up trying the Talisker 57* North, the Laphroaig PX and Ugeadail. Wasn't impressed with the Talisker, massive explosion initially but little else I found.
They also had a Caol Ila 12 and Lagavulin 16. I was going to take a punt in both, but at the last minute I sampled the Ardbeg and ended up taking that and the Caol Ila and leaving the Lagavulin.
