That's what prompted the question actually. There was a 2000 / 500 split between distillery and online I believe.
Rumour has it, it goes online next week at some point!

I would love to go one year but I can never get the time off. Same goes for my GF.

With regards to Macallan, they have some stonking older bottlings but they seem to be trading more on their name with the NAS stuff. It is good but way too expensive for what it is IMO.

I thought you were going to one a few months back?

I know, it's terrible.

I had planned to go to Glenfarclas, but pretty sure I got reeking the night before!

Thanks!

Does your order still say processing on Ardbeg's site?

Nice. Just in time for World Whisky Day on Saturday.
Enjoy, and don't forget to share your findings.

Just been having a look on the World of Whiskies website and not sure they have any Japanese whiskies anyway! frown

Going by Island/Islay, it seems I have a choice between Arbeg 10, Ardbeg Uigeadail, Bunnahabhain Cruach-Mhona, Laphroaig PX Cask.

I know the Uigeadail is supposed to be a very good dram, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone has sampled any of the above and how they compare to the Machir Bay or the Bowmore Tempest?
The Ardbeg 10, whilst very good, doesn't really compare to any other Ardbeg. I think they even describe it as entry level at the distillery!

Went on some business this week to the Diageo HQ in NW10. The reception area has a pub and a shop with a massive selection of their whiskies there, including some rarities.

Don't know yet - we were finishing off a bottle of Supernova last night - god that's a great dram. smile Possibly at the weekend I'll open it if I've got time (busy busy busy)...

Tempest is very different to the Ardbegs, I *assume* its very different to the Laphroaig (if its a Laphroiag similar to the 10 etc) and no idea regarding the Bunna. Had a look at the website myself, but only one dram stood out (to me at least) and thats the Talisker 57 North. Still not akin to Tempest, for sure, but a great dram all the same, and a whisky which seems to widely liked acrioss the board.

Its a pity they seem to concentrate of daft Dalmore's for thousands of £;'s instead of widening broad choice. Suppose it tells us those huge priced whiskies must sell well.

P/s if your friend likes Tempest, she may want to try Lagavulin 12 if she gets opportunity.
Thanks for the tip.

Ended up trying the Talisker 57* North, the Laphroaig PX and Ugeadail. Wasn't impressed with the Talisker, massive explosion initially but little else I found.

They also had a Caol Ila 12 and Lagavulin 16. I was going to take a punt in both, but at the last minute I sampled the Ardbeg and ended up taking that and the Caol Ila and leaving the Lagavulin.

Found a cheapish off licence out here in Portugal. Got my eye on either A'bunadh, Nikka Yoichi 10, Nikka 17 or that Lagavulin 16 I didn't get in the airport...

I can thoroughly recommend both A'bunadh and Lagavulin 16. The latter is my favourite whisky to date.
