£51.25 on whisky exchange
It's only £50.99 here https://www.thegreenwellystop.co.uk/whiskyshop/bow...
when it's in stock of course ;-)

To be honest I've bought a load of bottles through Green Welly, they are generally a few quid cheaper than TWE or MOM.
Can't fault them really, and the bottles are well packaged for the journey.

I had some more of the Amarone Cask a couple of nights ago. Very nice. The only problem is that my GF drinks a lot more of it than me as she claims it is the perfect 'lady' whisky!

This evening I am trying a bottle of Islay Mist Peated Reserve.
Currently available from The Green Welly Stop for £22 (more here https://www.thegreenwellystop.co.uk/whiskyshop/ind... ).

I have to say this is impressive stuff for the money.
Based on Laphroaig, with some other malts added.
Yes it's a blend, but it's a very nice blend - provided you like peated malts of course.

I bought the 12yo(£26.90) and 17yo(£37.20) as well, so will be trying those in the next few weeks.

This is probably very average stuff compared to what some of you drink, but after drinking enough normal and honey JD, I decided to buy some Single Barrel to see if it's any different.

Anyone tried it? Planning on trying some tonight if I get a chance.

Something a little different.

Has a unique flavour and no peat.

Been a little while since posting, but between visitors/ skiing and travelling with work it's been a bit busy for whisky (!). Got these two a few days ago at the airport.

I may have bought some bottles whilst at the Feis Ile this year ( like previous years).

L-R
Lagavulins 24 year old Feis Ile bottling ooh this is really nice..
And another one of those smile
Bruichladdich Octomore 7.1
Bruichladdich Cuvee 640 (lovely)
Small bottling of Bruichladdich Classic and also Heavily Peated (as a joke present for my brothers 50th).
Bruichladdich PC12 - Brothers actual birthday present.
Sample of my Bruichladdich cask (it's coming on nicely)
Two bottles of the Bruichladdich High Noon Feis Ile bottling (one is almost finished).
Small sample bottles at the front are the samples of Jim McEwens final masterclass (one good thing about my wife not drinking whisky smile )
Jura Tastival bottling - which is really really nice.

As you may've guessed from the above list - I really like Bruichladdich spirits. smile

Anyway onto the second pic

So after the Jura Feis Ile bottling we have a small bottle of Superstition as a gift for my Dad.
Oh look another bottle of the Tastival.
Caol Ila Feis Ile bottling.
Grabbed another bottle of the Ardbeg distillery release. (it's a really nice dram)
As well as a couple of the Ardbeg Perpetuum
Then of course a couple of bottles of the Laphroaig Cairdeas Feis Ile bottlings and of course whilst there picked up the minatures for my rent for the plot. smile

Oh and thanks to a really good friend at Ardbeg I've also came home with a 4.5L bottle of Ardbeg Alligator. Unfortunately the bottle's empty except a dram or two that remains at the bottom.

All in all an excellent week and a good haul. From the distillery days Bruichladdich / Jura / Ardbeg were excellent and each for different reasons.

Looks like an awesome stash you have picked up there! What's your favourite, or too many (and too different) to say?

On an aside, just booked a flight to Japan next January, so looking forward to trying some of the local whisky there! bounce That said, it sounds like prices have been rising, and that it can be difficult to get stuff because it's so popular now. Also have to see how the money is like, between a trip to Patagonia in November, back to the UK and presents for the family in December, and then the Japan trip in January!

This place seems to get a lot of recommendations, any other places worth visiting? I'll be in Tokyo and then up in the ski area afterwards.

Nice stash Crm ! You've done your bit to help clear the Gov't deficit - that's a lot of tax biglaugh

And with the sight of that bottle of Superstition - my starter for tonight - an old bottling that I've decided to consign to history - and not too bad. Sorry Lefty.

But for the main course - just opened a Laing's Provenance bottling - of which I accidentally have 2. Its the 1000'th bottling - an Aultmore 5yo - from two lively sherry butts. 50% and wow - dark colour - very full sherry. If there were any distillery characteristics I think the sherry has drowned them. Any longer could have been too long and totally reinforces why I have always loved the Provenance bottlings. Quality, very affordable, memorable, when its gone its gone. Grab one if you can - my second accidental one was from Dufftown whisky shop.

The nearest I have had has been the single cask Edradour Sherry Cask - very full on but much drier - and nearly 3 times the age and 60%.
This Aultmore is just getting richer by the minute as it rests here whilst I type away - time to savour every drop (with many drams left bounce)

Oooo hard question - but the Lagavulin 24 year is bloooooooody nice. It's their 200 year anniversary next year so I really wonder how they'll top this for a celebratory bottling.

The Ardbeg distillery release is an easy going down dram with lots of flavour - lovely.

The Bruichladdich is outstanding and it grows on you...but the Jura is really nice.

Too much to choose from really - each already with their own memories.. e.g. Jura takes me back to great food - the Laddie takes me back to meeting a family member on the Laddie day I hadn't seen for decades.

Now that does not surprise me at all!! Can I ask how many bottles were available and if you wish , what the financial penalty was?

Now that Diageo have priced their "special releases" of aged Lagavulin up in the stratosphere its unlikely I wil ever get to try such a fantastic dram

The one I wanted to try, but didn't get a chance, was Shotbar Zoetrope in Shinjuku. Apparently the owner doesn't speak much English, only Japanese and French, and they show silent movies on the back wall.

I'd certainly recommend the website Nonjatta for good Japanese whisky news and reviews. The site's owner has also written a good book called Drinking Japan that covers more than just whisky, looking at different drinks available, different manufacturers, bars, etc...

If you're going north, you may be able to stop in Hakushu or the Nikka distilleries. I've done Yamazaki and it's a very interesting tour, with an immaculately presented working as you can imagine!

Oh, and save space/money for duty free at the airport. Narita was quite heavy with Suntory products at decent prices a couple of years ago. I think a bottle of Hibiki 21 was about £100! Not sure what they are now, but go in with products and UK prices in mind and you might find a bargain.
