Yiochi has always been expensive in the UK. I have mentioned before the huge price rises for the Hibiki blends and the Yamazaki 18yo. Nikka are adjusting to the new market and we have to accpet it but I am getting sick of having to pay silly prices to drink some of my favourite whiskies.

On the other hand, it means my collection is increasing in worth.

Indeed.

However, every bubble comes to an end at some point.

Very true.

For older and limited expressions, I believe that prices will still increase due to supply and demand but normal, run of the mill bottlings cannot sustain these levels of increase IMO.

I wish I could agree, but I fear the Russian and Chinese markets will push prices up for many years to come :-(

Enjoying more Supernova this evening. I'm pretty sure that I bought it from Lefty. Where the hell has he gone?

Any whos, if you can get a bottle, buy it. I think it really is my all time favourite whisky.

I just managed to get a bottle of "That Boutique-y Whisky Company Inchmurrin Batch 1" from Majestic wine (last bottle they had).
A rare gem of a bottle I believe. It's a punchy 54.7% ABV, so should pack quite a punch.
They also had Glen Moray Port Finish as well, which I've not yet seen on the shelves, so I ended up taking for sampling :-)

Some good offers on at the moment with Father's day tomorrow.

Just picked up a bottle of this at Morrisons. Not bad for just £20.

Milroys had the Lagavulin up for 365 quid. I just checked and it appears to have sold out.
I got that email as well, much gnashing of teeth in this part of the world. Never mind, as they say.

On the subject of Islay bottlings, did anyone have any luck with the FoL Cairdeas this year? I managed to get a bottle in the raffle but will have to wait until the summer until I can try it.

My Arran Amarone is getting very low and my GF has denied drinking any of it irked

Not me but there are a few people over on the whisky form not happy about only getting one when it should have been two?

Anyone tried Writer's Tears? I found some in a Dublin bar recently and bought a bottle in duty free. Very light but flavoursome whiskey. Reminds me of Dalwhinnie but with a hint of honey.

I wanted 2 but their email was full of the 'due to high demand' crap we can only offer one per FoL. Oh well, one is better than none I suppose.

Very excited to report that my 2 bottles of Octomore 7.1 arrived this morning.
I will be keeping one, and opening the other on Friday night when one of my best friends is staying over.
It's good to share :-)

OMG it was amazing. I have a new favourite. Poor old Abunad'h is now in second place and I never thought that would happen.
