Hillside retails for around £700-750 from what I've seen.

I like the occasional whisky but ended up winning a bottle of Johnnie Walker Quest at a charity auction at the weekend. What's the best way to store as I don't want to ruin it. It Didn't come in a box and has a small dent at the blue metal on the neck. Does that affect it's value? Was not planning on drinking it but more of an investment.

In addition to what krallicious said - if you are going to store it then put it somewhere out of the light and upright. If it's on it's side the alcohol will damage the cork, and sunlight will affect the taste with time.

Just back from the UK and got a 1 litre PX cask Laphroaig, plus the 15yo Benriach Sauternes finish, and a small Bruichladdich Islay Barley.

Anyone tried the un named single malts from Aldi? Spotted they do an "Islay" one, I imagine it is the off cast from one of the distilleries. Quite tempted!

Yikes indeed. I had one of the exact same release and drank it a few years back. I didn't think it was particularly special either...

Just goes to prove the upward trend for these 'lost' distilleries in the last few years!!

There's a few bottles at home I maybe shouldn't have opened..

I was given it so yes! I didn't check what it was worth so seeing the picture was a bit of a surprise. It was good but not £700 good.

Having a wee dram tonight, and nature decided to add a little something special into the mix to go with it. It's the Bruichladdich Islay Barley (http://www.bruichladdich.com/the-whisky/bruichladdich/bruichladdich-islay-barley-200ml). And this is with a small snappy camera!

Since the French are one of the biggest consumers of single malt in the world, and are Aberlour's largest market by far, I'd imagine that French whisky might be quite good.
How have you found it (assuming you tried it already)?
