Was the something special in your mix peyote? hehe
It appears not... I was worried after that comment that I had posted a nice picture of blackness, :P

Since the French are one of the biggest consumers of single malt in the world, and are Aberlour's largest market by far, I'd imagine that French whisky might be quite good.
How have you found it (assuming you tried it already)?
Lynchie999 said:
yes, thats whisky... from france... its my oddball choice...

Having already bought some French stuff myself, I'd also be interested to hear how this one is.

I took a chance on a bottle of Armorik last year, and that was a good find..

Having never tried any Tomatin whisky before, last week I got a bottle of the 12 year old for £21.58 and today I've just got an 18 year old for £35.98 on clearance from Makro, the latter is £57.64 and £74.95 on Master of Malt and The Whisky Exchange. Made up with my bargain, just hope I like it now!

Yeh, its good, got a little peatyness to it with a irish/bourbon sweetness to it perhaps .... definitely have it again.. (but i'm no expert!)

I just got myself a litre of Glenfarclas 105. 60%!

Could make for an interesting weekend if I'm not careful.......

The 105 hides the alcohol very well. It is quite dangerous drunk

Had my first try of Glenfarclas 105 last night.

Crikey, it's a strong un!

I put a splash of water into it. When applying water to whisky I normally follow the 'like raindrops falling onto a puddle' approach but I think this might need a bit more than that.

Also, not sure how much I can sup in one sitting. I only had one dram last night and, unless it's my imagination, I'm feeling it a wee bit this morning.

Amazing how nice it tastes for something that strong though. Glenfarclas is a mighty fine distillery.

Had my brother and a good friend over for a drink or two a few weeks back, had this little lot to work through...

This one for tonight, big fan of the Dalmore distillery. Normally served the right way up though...

Worth seeking out, and one of my favourites. There's a distinct smokiness to it that's quite enthralling, not as powerful as a Laphroaig and without the medicinal kick, with honey notes initially on the pallet. I'm absolutely no expert in the field however I can understand the recognition it has been given.

Sounds like my kind of whisky. Definitely not a fan of the medicinal stuff, and I find it hard to distinguish tastes, so tend to stay clear of the more powerful stuff too. Will have to give it a try when I get a chance.

Heads up chaps.

Aberlour A'bunadh Single Malt Whisky down from £41.50 to £33.50 at Waitrose (National Deal).
This excellent cask strength (59.6% or thereabouts) whisky is one of the best even at full price. This is an absolute bargain for single malt fans.

Seems like it's either Batch #51(60.8% ABV) or #52(60.5% ABV), if my local Waitrose is anything to go by.

Thank you!! Been waiting for ages for this to come on offer. Initially thought they'd sold out when I went to the shelf and it was empty. Luckily they'd just moved them to their promo section.

Also worth looking at the Monkey Shoulder they have for £23. They have them in the cage boxes too.

Yes some good Single Malts in Monkey Shoulder. IMHO it's a very underrated dram.
Enjoy the A'Bunadh.
