Found these in a late family members house. I know nothing about whisky as I don't drink it. The chivas regal has bought in 1989 written in the inside, the tin box is tarnished so it looks old. The dimple must also have been in the house for the last 20 years.
Can anyone tell me about them and their value.
the chivas and dimple 12s were/are 'deluxe', mass-produced blended whiskies. is the dimple was bought in 1989, it's fair to say it was bottled that decade. the same may be true of the chivas. on whisky auction sites, you would be looking at selling for around £20 each - £30 is being generous, and i have seen the chivas sell for as low as £15 in the past. the glenmorangie 10 is again widely available today and 1980s bottlings sell for about £30-£40 at auction - although i have seen it a few months ago as low as £22. the bottle could be from the 1990s - i cannot quite see if it says 75cl (up until 1991) or 70cl (1991-). either way, prices should be similar. then you have to factor in cost of postage per bottle, auction fees and vat.Can anyone tell me about them and their value.

You'd be better off drinking them, but you say you don't drink whisky.
I'd be tempted to give them to a charity for XMAS.

You could ask The Whisky Exchange to value it for you, but I don't expect they will offer much. You never know though.

they claim to offer auction prices, but auction prices go up and down. i assume they base it on the most recent month. like you say, i doubt they will offer much, but it might be worth a go for paul - it looks like a simple no-risk process. Here's the link....

Looking for some recommendations for Xmas drinking.
Normally we enjoy Talisker, Highland Park and Oban whisky. Looking for something a little different and have come up with the following 4 to select probably 2 from. Would welcome comments -
Aberlour 18 Year Old (Speyside)
Ardbeg Uigeadail (Islay)
BenRiach 16 Year Old (Speyside)
Lagavulin 16 Year Old (Islay)

Got a bottle of this for £20 from Asda.
Had a couple of glasses of Buffalo Trace at the weekend which I really enjoyed. Will be interesting to see how this compares.
I was drinking their Rye last night in fact:

For anybody else who's a fan of Dalmore King Alexander III - I finished mine off last night, and looked it up on Amazon ready to order another two bottles. It was £120 a bottle but since I generally get stuff delivered to work I decided to wait until Friday to order, since it was less likely to turn up on a weekend then.
By chance, I just checked Amazon again. Overnight, it's dropped to £95 - AND you save £10 for an order over £75, or £20 for an order over £100.
So by chance, instead of ordering two bottles at £120 each last night, I just ordered two bottles for £171.78 in total.
Must admit, I was tempted to order a couple more!

My absolute favourite. I've got a bottle in the cupboard that I'm saving for Christmas. Also, has anybody tried the Benromach? Specifically the Peat Smoke and the Organic?
The best of the lot was a Whisky Shop exclusive at 17 - that was stunning.

It was in stock when I ordered and I got an email confirmation so let's hope I get a notification that it's being shipped.

A trip to Germany this week ended up with me buying some more European whiskies while I was in Cadenhead's in Berlin, in addtion to a travel special Auchentoshan on the way through Gatwick
The Auchentoshan Blood Oak gets its name from the French Red wine casks, and it is a nice variation on other bottlings from there. The wine influence is pretty obvious in the taste, but it's definitely still an Auchentoshan.
On the right is a whisky that's become a favourite since I bought some during the summer Santis Dreifaltigkeit - one of two I've bought another since the summer.
The other one is a bottle that probably gives Haig Club a run for its money in terms of packaging, but I am hoping the gamble pays off - 5yr old Preussischer Whisky. From the back-story, it sounds a very small operation, and hasn't received much press outside Germany, with some more detail here http://www.preussischerwhisky.de/index2.php?lang=e...
