Please do, if it's any good I will pop out and get a bottle or two. I saw tons of stock in Crowthorne Lidl yesterday.
Couldn't do Burns Night due to an early start today, so I opened the bottle this evening.

It's bloody lovely, so glad I bought it now, and I recommend it highly smile

Really hope you like it, having another one tonight smile

It's made me rethink blends because I usually steer clear tbh.

Unfortunately been very busy today so didn't get chance to get one, but my local Lidl has tons left, so can get one tomorrow or at the weekend.
Some blends can be very good. I'm particularly fond of the Compass Box offerings, as generally they are exceptional.
Certainly the 22 year old Glenalba is a fine dram, and excellent value for money, so I'm looking forward to trying the 25.
I definitely rate that Co-op 12 year old (rebadged Dalmore 12), for £22 a bottle you can't go wrong.

So far been enjoying the time in Japan! First we got 2 bottles of the Single Malt Yoichi and Yamazaki to try. Generally nice, but it does seem they miss something compared to the age statements despite what distilleries may say.

A few days ago we visited the Yoichi Nikka distillery which was interesting. No tours in English so we had to guide ourselves. Had a few good drinks, with the 20yo Yoichi being the stand out one (at a relatively bargin price of £7 of so). The Sherry and Sweet distillery only release was very good too. We also tasted Nikka Super, Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt and their apple wine for free which they offer everyone on the tours. The general consensus of my not so whisky interested friends was that the Super was better than the Pure Malt. I picked myself up a 500ml bottle of the Shery and Sweet and the Salty and Peaty to take back. I also got a smaller bottle of the Salty and Peaty to drink here in theory to taste it, as well as the single malt Miyagikyo.

Yesterday went to a bar in Niseko which had a good range of whisky. I tried the Mars Tsunagu and the Yamazaki 2015 limited edition. The Tsunagu is a blended limited edition (300 bottles) specially bottled for the japanese department store Isetan. It's made from young slightly peaty single malts aged in bourbon casks and French oak barrels used in the aging of Japan's Yamanashi wine, and grain whisky produced on another site owned by Hombo Shuzo, owner of Mars Whisky. Bottled at 46% of volume. I have to say I prefered it to the Yamazaki, which wasn't that much different from some of the more standard Yamazaki releases I have tasted.

Hopefully there will be some other good tastings to come in Tokyo shortly!

I've just picked up a bottle of Yoichi non-age labelled which is just lovely, the cigar like smoke to it is heavenly. Also bought a bottle of Smokehead "Rock edition" which is exceptionally peaty, definitely a winter drink that one.

Brilliant!

Any plans to go to the Yamazaki distillery?

If you are looking for a complete bargain though, get a bottle of Co-Op 12 year old single malt. It's £22.99 and it's rebadged Dalmore 12.
I got a bottle at the weekend, and was very impressed. Best sub £30 bottle I've bought in a long time.
Thank you for the comment, I was on the tasting panel for the selection of this whisky smile

It's made me rethink blends because I usually steer clear tbh.
Finally got me a bottle of the 25, and sampled it tonight.
Very nice indeed.
The 22 is very close though.
Superb blends both of them.
Thanks for the tip.

Has anyone got a bottle of the Glendullan, I think it's the singleton of Glendullan. Recently meant to have been expanded from American market to be available everywhere but not seen it around yet.

Do let us know what you think when you get it.
Just sipping a dram now.
I'm still struggling to believe how cheap it is, and yet how nice.

Grabbed these two on Friday after reading good things.

The blend isn't my thing at all but it will do as a mixer if anyone who comes over wants a whisky and coke. The Islay is quite nice, a little unrefined, smacks you in the face with smoke as if to say "I'm an Islay, Islay's are smokey". At £31 for the two bottles, can't complain.
