True. I'm not a fan of the red label, so generally avoid it, and I can't make my mind up if the blue is worth the price....
I've never tried blue but I've been told by my mother there is a bottle in loft and I could keep it if I found it! After an entires day searching in a fibre-glass infested environment, I managed half the boxes up there but no blue label. Lefty said:
Nice! Tried that singleton in my local boozer but i was pissed and can't remember what it tasted like. Whisky I expect.
Interested in the Dalmore, I've tried a few but never really been that impressed. I'm very much in the minority there though.
It's a mid-week drinker TBH. It was on 25% discount at TWE if you'd replied to their mail asking for reviews on their service... so knew it wasn't going to set the world alight. Aberlour 10 is still my favourite cheap drinker.Interested in the Dalmore, I've tried a few but never really been that impressed. I'm very much in the minority there though.
The Dalmore is nice, but remember I'm not into the big, heavy, peaty malts - I'm a Speysider fan, so to move towards a Highland gives you an idea. Very easy drinker - worth a punt. Similar to the Cigar Reserve.
My friend in Denmark has bought shares in several casks(plural!!) from Arran and they are starting to come through.... he brings me back a bottle every year when he comes over for Silverstone's LMP race.
These pictures show what he has got in addition to the around 300!!! other bottles he has got... some weird and wonderful stuff from Normandy, Sweden, India, Canada etc
I am not boasting...
(These are the mixed Arran bottles.... odds and sods as he calls them...)

Lefty is going to kill me for this one.
I'm drinking Balvenie Madiera cask tonight. Its not my favourite dram - a bit too perfumed, too winey (duh) for my taste. Its good, I just struggle to find an occaision for it.
However, one way i do enjoy it is (look away, purists) over lots of ice, following a hot and sour Thai food. When your mouth feels a bit like Fukushima Reactor #2 if they had tried to cool it with lime juice and thai fish sauce, its unusual flavour is rather good.

I did buy a bottle of this in the end and I can imagine it might improve with ice! At room temperature it's a bit too sweet for me, very tropical!

You can have one from me if you want - the red that is.My gran RIP was a typical tight Yorkshire woman. Loved a bargain and collected stuff in case it gained value.
Hence my new boxed toys used to disappear - only years later we found them in the back of her wardrobe - still, I had a piece of coal to play with.
Back to the JW though - can I take you back to the introduction of VAT in the 70's. She bought a bottle before VAT came in. She didn't drink - I was just out of nappies. But it was cheap.
The price, I have just checked, was £2.54. Nice labelling - though. I reckon £50 today ? So the percentage increase is not too bad over 40 years.
Little did she know I would become a drinker of 'the demon drink'.
I love it when people move - I wouldn't want the hassle myself when you hear the solicitors stories.
However, following a cupboard clearance, I have been given a bottle of 'scotch whisky' - a blend.
I can't find any mention on the web - the thoughts are that its an export thing that has come via Cyprus.
A 1 litre bottle of Cayfest - that was a C at the start.
'Distilled, blended in Scotland for Glenkela'.
None of this is producing anything in a search - although I'm not expecting much ! Nice plastic screw cap.

Feeling somewhat inadequate amongst you afficionados (and more money than liver cells! ) but I took a plunge on two bottles of Highland Park 12 yo, whilst it's on offer for £23 at Sainsbury's (ends 14th).
Normally tend to drink my drams neat, and first two glasses of the HP were just that, but tonight I'm drinking with a wee touch of water, and wow!
Rough edge completely smoothed off, and more sweetness coming through. Beyond that, not got a clue, but for my first foray into HP, mmm.......
