It's very nice but too expensive for what it is IMO. The Dalmore 12 is almost as good for less than a third of the price.

I picked up the KA III for £70, and for that it feels about right value wise.

I picked up a bottle of 30 year old Girvan grain from work - I'm interested to try it. I've had so few single grain whiskies - maybe two at most?

I like it too. Might have a dram tonight.

I'm sure its been mentioned here before - G&M Linkwood 15.

If you were to recommend a dram to a non whisky drinker Dalwhinnie might be in there - but the Linkwood would certainly convert people. MrsMercs was impressed and even the dog didn't run a mile like he does with anything peaty. If only it was 46% +. A second dram beckons, even if my gout will kick in tomorrow.

And whilst I was in the shop we got a guy who has only ever drunk Fiddich 10 to buy a bottle - hope it cures his halitosis !
I also bought a Nikka ''From The Barrel'' (repeat purchase). I actually went to buy a Hepburns Choice Braeval - but the wallet has limits - especially as the fridge freezer seems to have gone t1ts up for the second summer running - won't buy another AEG.

First Linkwood - love to try another bottling.

I joined a whisky subscription service (Taster's Club) last February and they send me a new bottle of whisky each month for like $35... They send some rare finds and I haven't had anything bad, but I definitely have found a few new favorites. Most notably E.H. Taylor Jr. Single Barrel

My son is 3 months old and I'm looking to buy a 'decent bottle' for him to open when he is 18.

Can anyone recommend asomething please ? Would be nice as an investment too...

Single malt only, limited release expression, don't go for one of the 'big names' and spend £50-100. You might want to sell it a couple of years later though if you fail to disregard the prices so best to leave that bit alone!

Many thanks.

Unfortunately I don't know much, if anything regarding whiskey but like the idea of having a little something for him for when he is older.

Any chance of some links to suitable single malts please ?

Can't decide if I should drink or keep.

I'd recommend speaking to some of your favourite distilleries to see what they had been distilling on his birthday, try to get some cask numbers and look out for them in future...
