Jeez, thats some attention to detail... Must have been a LOT of time and effort went in to that - I hope you were rewarded hansomely!

My mrs still does the occasional character cake (for the kids birthdays and returning customers from when she used to sell them).

I'll try and find a shot of the latest effort - Here we go, found it:

Everything is edible of course! lick
(Edit: Oooh, except the feathers and bow around the cake...)

Thats crackin, I love the kids cutesie ones. We need to try a few more of those, but don't think there are many kids birthdays coming up among friends. will do some in the new year. HAve you got more photos of her work? Always nice to see how others do cakes, and good to see its all edible, everthing we've done so far has been 100% edible and trying to keep it that way.

The bag one took about 4 hours with 2 of us working on it to get it almost finished, just the painted logos to do. My mate did the painting and wouldn't say how long it took him, just that it took a while... Didn't make too much on it as we're just trying to get our cakes out there a bit and then hopefully get some recommendations from people that have had cakes from us.

Mr Scirocco is the same, however, I find that once my Banana Bread/Baileys Cheesecake is done I don't mind not sharing as much.

You could try one of these though:

Don't you just love this time of year?

Popped out to pick some wild blackberries this morning and, together with some lovely Bramleys from a work colleague, have just made these chunky apple and blackberry muffins.

They're a bit like me (big, not much to look at, but taste fantastic hehe ) and you'll just have to believe me when I describe the wonderful aroma in my kitchen of warm, buttery vanilla and a rich, jammy smell from the cooked berries.

Today... a deep bakewell tart. Thought I' use puff pastry too, to give a lovely crisp, flaky case around the sweet moist filling.

Yummy.

Been a while since I popped something in here. I tend to make a batch of muffins each weekend for my (and my wife's) respective office chums but they're not particularly photo-worthy - arguably, they're hardly baking! - but are always well received.

Anyway, with a bit of extra time, I thought I'd bake them something a bit nicer this week.

So, here's a chocolate and raspberry baked cheesecake, with a chocolate, oatmeal and almond biscuit base.

Thought I'd have a play with some yeast-based baking this weekend. I have been nurturing a yeast starter for the last couple of weeks and thought I'd see how it worked for a cake and some bread.

I made a version of the Amish apple cake in a large platter (a version, because the ratios/quantities didn't seem right in the recipe I found) and had a go at a couple of rye batons.

Cake mix, just before the oven.

The finished articles.

Is the 'Amish apple cake' the same thing as the 'Herman friendship cake'?

If so, thumbup

Bloody lovely. The sourdough gives it a lovely zesty tang.

Pretty much, yes. All variations on a theme.

Holy thread resurrection Batman!

Baked some chocolate chunk cookies at the weekend and I'm quite proud of how they came out as it's months since I baked anything!

I know they look a bit like rock cakes but I promise they're cookies.
