More breakfasts in the US...
I have to say, those bring back unpleasant memories from my own brief time over there. yuck

Yes, you can get good food. But not, IME, a decent breakfast.

Is that a bottle of "cholesterol" on the table?

NB. Fruit + muffins = ghey
Mexican hot sauce actually!

Yep, ghey, that is why I stuck with the high carb option of the omelette and hash browns with toast!

So wrong on so many levels! Reminds me of when I lived in Huntington Beach - try to find a Carrows restaurant if you can - they do some appalling combinations of fried eggs and balsa wood bacon served with strawberry sauce and whipped cream! yuck
I agree with you there - a Scot with a lack of taste ordered that one!

While I will be near Huntington Beach tomorrow, I think I will give that one a miss wink

As I've seen fit to take the piss, it's only right I should post my effort:

It tasted a little better than it looks, thankfully. Still not great though.

3 x cumberland sausage
2 x black bacon (from the cheshire smoke house - stunning stuff)
1 x fried egg
2 x potato cake things
1 x massive portion of beans. I'm a tomato man personally but the missus won the day this time.

Normally we don't have the beans & potato cakes and replace them with black pudding, tomatoes & mushrooms.

Still, it made a nice change.

Deja vu moment... did a fry up a couple of weeks ago and decided to do it again! One less sausage this time though smile

(by the way, that's a mushroom at the front, despite the fact that it looks like a tiny baked potato!)

Ok, here's a burning question on the preparation of said breakfast. Is it an all in one pan fry-up, or do the each individual items get cooked differently?

I think sausages and bacon work best when oven cooked, black pudding and mushrooms fried, tomato grilled and beans in a pan.

I'm just curious as to how you all get the best results?

One pan with a plate in the oven to keep things warm as I cant fit everything on the pan at one time.

A properly prepared full english requires more utensils, pans and cooking methods than just about any meal.

You need to grill the bacon and sausages
Shallow fry the black pudding, mushrooms, eggs, tattie scones
Deep Fry the Hash Browns
Cook in a pan the baked beans

If you cant fit all on at the same time a plate should either be left in the bottom of the grill or in a low temp oven keeping everything warm whilst you make the rest. Fried eggs should always be made last though or you wont get a runny yolk.

Sausages, black pudding and mushroom done in the oven and kept warm. I have a large griddle pan and I cook the bacon on the griddle part of it, and the fried bread on the flat part. Once done, the bacon goes in the oven with the rest to keep warm for a few minutes, and the bread goes on the plate. Then I fry a couple of eggs, put them on the bread, then get the rest out of the oven and dish it up. Oh, and the beans I put in the microwave for 1 minute just as I start the eggs.

Where do you all get your black puddings that look like the size a jam jar lid? I tried some Bury www.buryblackpuddings.co.uk and hated it.

I tried going to a proper butchers but they were not great.

Im used to the ones which when you cut it they are about the size of a £2 coin and come in a thick black covering in a ring like this

Oh and how do you cook yours. My mum always fried it so I cook it the same way but want to try a different way.
